Mikuni idle screw

Have a Mikuni 22mm oval bore on a SDG 107 3V. Was really lean on the bottom when I got it, drilled the idle jet out to .020" from .015", still too lean, went out to .025" and it might be a bit far now. I now have the idle air screw out to 4 turns. Just wondering, how far out on this carb can you have the idle air screw until it does nothing, that is, until the air passages are the restriction? I know, should get a slightly smaller jet, but for now I'm close so, just asking.
