Re: new guy intro. with bike pics.

Do yourself a favor and take the whole bike apart and loctite everything.Keep a close eye on the footpeg pivot bolts and especially the foot peg mount. The carb has a 85 main in it,go to a 95 and it will make a huge difference in power. Pm me if you want anymore set-up tips for it,I know that bike front to back.

thanks. i'll try and get through most of the bolts next weekend. will the 95 get rid of the bogs on the upshifts? I already found a loose bolt on the footpeg. I want to pull them out and replace them with better bolts too.

I bought it through TNT but it was shipped direct from Apollos wearhouse in california. The swing arm is stock. it is about 2 inches longer then a xtreme 125 pro.

Apollo? Looks to be the same as an Orion. Give us some specs on your bike - motor, suspension, etc. Oh and welcome to PM!

Fun bikes, but since they are the beloved Pitsters get ready for the bashing to start. I have one and have a blast on it! Mine is currently in the middle of a make over. Cant wait for the weather to break so I can go outside and ride.

Re: new guy intro. with bike pics.

The 95 will help a little on the upshift bog,the pilot in the carb is a strange one. Call Jason at OPBS,they have a great carb replacement for that motor really cheap that has "normal" jets that are either mikuni or Keihin. I would get rid of the stock air filter also.It is useless. Turning the mixture screw out in front of the carb, underneath, will help some too.It is a bear to get to,I used a super small screwdriver to turn it out at least one turn.

I had a big problem with mine, the rear brake backing plate slides on a pin that is welded to the inside part of the swingarm. The pin was welded too far forward,I could only get 1/2 of adjustment out of the chain.I knocked the pin out and re-welded it 1 inch farther back so the rear brake backing plate would slide enough to tighten the chain. After the chain stretches a couple of times, you will have to remove a link to get it tight again.

I can probably explain everything over the phone about the bike easier than typing. Give me a call if you have any more questions . Vic 410 382 9910

Re: new guy intro. with bike pics.

Ya bro Onlydirt is right on with the bashing because your new bike isn't a pister but we apollo/orion boys like our bikes. They are tons of fun and they can take a beating! Mine's in the same make over stage as Onlydirt's but all that's left to do is re-oil the front forks and the weather to break....

that is good to know about the chain since i have little time on the bike and it already looks like it needs to be tightened up.

as for pister pro owners bashing. i don't care. I bought this bike because it was the best buy for the money (875 shipped). later down the line i'll swap out the forks, then rear shock, and then motor (in that order) if i am still really into riding it.

The forks are pretty good.Dump the junk oil in them and put in 20 wt.,there are a lot of fixes for them.Do a search on fast ace on this forum or thumper talk.. Get the rear shock from OPBS,it is cheap and pretty good. It is what they use on there x3r.

Re: new guy intro. with bike pics.

20 wt. should do it, I think its 175 ml? not sure,I will check my notes.Play around with the air pressure settings, the shrader valve is under a rubber bung on the bottom of the fork legs. There are some great threads about theses forks on here. I set my Apollo/Orion up for a 100# aggressive mxer(my son) and he is very particular about his set up.

what do you have the clickers on the top on? does it control compression and rebound on both sides but by increasing rebound you are making compression softer or does the left side actually just adjust compression while the right side only adjustes rebound?

Re: new guy intro. with bike pics.

Left does compression.right rebound. They actually have a pretty good range of adjustment once you change the oil and get the air pressure settings rite. I think we ran 120 psi left leg and 80 psi right leg.I sold that bike to my sons friend,I gave him all the set up info with the bike.

I upgraded from that bike to the x3r 150 from OPBS. Completely different animal. If you are going to keep it,I would throw in the 150 motor. It is a waste of time with the lifan 120 trying to get more power out of it.
The 140 lifan is not a bad motor but the 150 is pretty fun.It will power wheelie with me on it in third gear. There are going to be endless power upgrades for the 150. It looks like 18 hp in a reliable 150 is going to be the standard. A lot of people are going to hurt themselves with 18 hp. The new 150 DOHC Daytonas are prob. gonna be 20+ hp. Sick.

The only complaint I had with the 29 was the length of the chassis and rake of the steering. You can get more steering lock out of it by bending the steering stop on the bottom of the headset.

cool. i put like 100 psi and 75 psi and and go from there. i am not worried about power until my brother in-law goes bigger on his bike but i would probably rather spend the 500 - 600 on the 150 then get 140 and wonder "what if" all the time.
as for steering, that is good trick to know.

Re: new guy intro. with bike pics.

If you really get into it,sell your 29 and get a Pitster Pro X4 150 or a OPBS x3r150.It is a night and day difference. The Pitster is set up for bigger people,it feels like a small big bike. I spent a lot of time dialing in the 29, we got it pretty good, the Pitster is worlds better in stock trim. The 150 motor really rips, the suspension is way better and the pitster is 10 times more stable.
I got my Pitster from Solomon racing, they are all lifelong racers, most of those guys don't even bother to ride the big bikes anymore. The Pitsters are that good.
My son is on the OPBS pit bike team,he is one of the only east coast riders. We are waiting for delivery on his 08 race bike,a x3r 150. I will be putting them head to head soon, maybe this coming weekend if the weather breaks. It is 20 degrees here, not too good for riding.
