So my new LXR won't start...I had it running for 5 mins and took in out around the neihborhood...Idled fine...Started it again today to run and then change oil and it was idling while warming and then bam, engine stopped...I have checked everything, spark plug, valves and jetting...I am loosing my Farking mind!

I am riding a private track tomorrow and can't get this damned bike started...I just spent 3 hours f'ing around with that piece of ****...

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I am at sea level and the spark plug was black...so I went down to the 100 jet...air fuel screw in 1/4 from full in...New spark plug was installed.

Turn the gas on, open the drain on the bowl to make sure you have fuel there.

Check all electrical connections.

Only 2 things I can think of after a bottle of Jager.

Put it in second gear and push it backwards until it stops.
Clutch and run like ****, jump on to the seat an release the clutch. If it don't start when youre doing that there is something wrong!

when you push it backwards until the rear wheel stops youre opening the valves.

whats your needle set to in your carb slide? set it to the 2nd notch from the bottom if it isnt already there?

If you have fuel, spark and compression it will run, unless your timing is WAY off.

turn the screw out further than 1/4 turn.

I tried most of those things just noW and nothing...I will try and back out the air/fuel screw and see...What if the idle screw was way off from the factory? with out starting it how do I know where it should be? or does it matter..Sorry for the dumb questions ....

Its pretty hard to kick too, is that the way these bikes are? I mean harder than my 250f

You are way off on the jetting!! no way at sea level will it run, lucky you even got it to start, you need tp put in the 25 pilot (black mark on it), and the 105 or even 106 main, also the needle and the second form the bottom, the mixture screw out 1.5 turns, plus make sure when the carb is upside down that you have the floats level when the float bowl is off. there is a nice jetting sheet with pictures and everything that came with the bike along with the jets.
Also a plug reading on a new bike is unreliable, too many variables, plus should be taken after a speed run and killed then coast to a stop and pull the plug, after the bike is completly broken in.

ultimatly at sea level you will want to run a 110 main.

Just FYI, di the jetting u suggested and still nothing... I am perplexed, I guess no riding today

Plus he said it was idling fine and running when it quit. Just for giggles you didn't drain the oil while it was running?? Sorry had to ask,not trying to be a smart ass. Was there any unusually strange noises from the bottom end??

sounds like something in the wiring is loose, call Pitster and you will get taken care of, nice thing about buying a bike with a warranty.

keep those jetting changes and when we determine the wiring issue it will run just like you wanted.
in the meantime , double check the connections as well as where the wires plug into the plastics to be sure they are all the way in.

Boy that sounds electrical to me...did you check all yor electrical connections? Check them all....with the vibration of these bikes one could have come apart...check them all...I taped all mine when I put the bike together. If the bike was running, now its not...its something simple I think and that is a connection somewhere.
