New X4 mod, cost $2.50

Well here is my latest mod to my x4, A $2.00 KX85 caliper off of ebay.
A little custom fab on the mount and a new set of pads and they grip like a vice.
Haven't gotten to ride it yet but it definately feels like the dual pistons are going to make a big difference.

You need more front brake? Mine is crazy strong stock, almost better than my CRF.

Pretty sick bikes aren't they.I was pretty shocked the first time I rode mine.It is not a pit bike,it is a 3/4 size cr/kx/rm/yz 125.

No, I didn't "need" more front brake, its just nice to have. As for the fabbing, I had to weld up the stock 85 mounting holes. Line up the caliper on the forks mark and drill the new holes, and then tap them for the stock hardware. Doesn't take long if you have the equipment.

Yea I couldn't pass it up, I didn't even know if it would work but I figured it wasn't much of a loss if it didn't.

good job, i have been wanting to upgrade the calipers on my x4 since i got it. The brakes on the x4 are the weakest link and im gonna do the same as you.

Thanks!

Re: New X4 mod, cost $2.50

My stock front brakes are Ok but it also takes alot of pull on the lever to really get the bike to stop. It seems as if you either you grap a handle full of stock brakes or you are barely using them.

Re: New X4 mod, cost $2.50

How is the pad contact area with your setup? Looks like you might be needing a slightly larger rotor with the caliper mounted where it is?
