| Orion Pitbike trouble
Okay so i picked up my Orion 125 cc X3-r from the states last weekend... finished putting it together this afternoon give it a fiew cranks, no go, check the plug no fire.. I tested the grounding.. worked fine tested my coil,.. turns out the chineese zonghnen ppl reversed the wires..from teh stator, so now i have fire, and compression,.. but my clutch was way out of wack.. I had compression in newtral.. pulled my clutch in i was spinning in the empty... put my bike in 4th gear, pulled the clutch to kick the bike started kicking forward.. so then i had a clutch problem.. I finished tuning the clutch to grab with a good feel with compression in N and with the clutch in and the f*%$ing bike will still not start.. what is my next step to look at? carb or jetting? I strongly recommend not buying from orionpitbikesales.com because they are poor quality and poor workmanship putting these bikes together, I already broke my rear fender and right side number plate bolts and engine are cheap aluminum and is very depressing getting a brand new bike out of a crate with all these problems, engine was never tested from the factory Ive said it once and ill say it again, Nothing beat's a Honda anyone have any suggestions?? any helpful ideas or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated, thanks Corey |

they honestly don't know what they are doing .. they buy bikes from china.. aka coolster and call them Orion's.. it's just poor management in my opinion how they don't test these key items it's really frustrating.. basically all they do is buy and sell. I'm gona give them a call Monday morning see what they have to say |

I had a Orion a few years back, streched the frame on the 2nd day of riding, they gave me a new frame, seen what i was getting into, and sold it! I don't mind working on bike's,but it was going to be all the time with that thing. And oh, everything that went wrong, they said"never had a problem with that before" yeah right! I wanted to believe it was something it wasn't,my bad! I can see how China bike hater's are started! I think your motor is a start in N only, good luck with.

Thanks hah gona need all the luck i can get with this one lol i'm half tempted to put a honda engine in her, im assuming a crf 70 would fit the frame mouns of a chineese/klx frame? I have a import engine in one of my z50's i think all frames have the same motor mounts? |

I don't think there is a chinese frame that has KLX mount's(you can get them made) ,but the rest is crf50 based.Let us know how your making out.

| Re: Orion Pitbike trouble timing
I am 99% sure that my problem is currently my timing, I took my valve cover off and spark plug out, shoved a screwdriver into the cylinder to determine when my piston was at the top of the cylinder and checked my valve and my exhaust valve opened at the same time as my piston is at the top of my cylinder, so that's still a good sign, when I bought the bike i got the upgraded cam installed, my guess is who ever installed the cam, only took into consideration about the piston and exhaust valve to be timed, however i took my cdi coil cover off and there is a notch on the wheel and it's way out of whack for my spark to sync with my piston/valve, right now it's sending a fire from my spark plug when my piston is at the bottom of my cylinder, if that's what that notch means? that's kinda why i'm writing about this. It looks like i need to time my engine allover again since the bike builder din't do it correctly, i was wondering how the side cover of the cam comes off, i don't wana pry it open its too hard to fit a flathead in there and theres no screws, theres just a tab.. i tried turning it by hand and no go, do i need to tap the tab in order to make it screw off? |

You are so right the coolster/Orion bike and all parts for them are scraped frome the floor and throwed together and sold. These dealers don't really have any customer service and the one that do try are working with total junk and either don't realize o r they don't care. They got there money from you. I know my dad bought my first (pitbike) 2 years ago it was a coolster biggest waist of good money. Stay away from that brand.

It's pretty much fraud they sell a brand new bike that does not work which according to them is "ready to run" the bike is so called a orion but i can see the peeled off stickers along the frame indicating coolster, companies should not be allowed to let this happen.. i asked for a partial refund atleast to help pay labor and time to get this bike going, they wanted so send my email to management and "see about getting me future discounts" i literally laughed out loud.. they could never even pay me to do buisness with them anymore it was the frist and last time i buy something from crocket people like them but anyways we will see what happens.. |

The old addage "you get what you pay for" isn't always true, but it certainly is in the pit bike market. You're right...nothing beats a Honda!

Ahh 50 50, you're always good for a china bike bash aren't you? Go back to the Honda forum if that's all you come here to do. Cracing, sounds like ALL your problems were that the stator wiring was incorrect, boo hoo. The motor is a crank mounted clutch type and you can't start those in gear. Nothing wrong with it mechanically though. But, you guys beat the snot out of orions, yes, they are cheap, but you didn't pay even half the amount a Honda would have cost, so I don't think you did too badly after all. Plus, this bike will teach you how to work on something mechanical, and how bad could that be?

| Re: Orion Pitbike trouble
Found the problem, it was the spark timing that was off, whoever installed the inner rotor kit, used the wrong key.. and did not properly align it on the shaft, here's what it looked like when I removed it... excessive force made groves where they were not intended for and my threads on the shaft are all stretched and shaved. ![]() So I installed a new key and adjusted the magnet, bike fired up first kick.. now I need to get a new jet for my carb because the bike is running too lean, not enough fuel going to the engine.. another step closer to a working bike! |

[QUOTE=DGA;1440891] Cracing, sounds like ALL your problems were that the stator wiring was incorrect, boo hoo. QUOTE] Yes the wires were put backwards from them giving no fire at first... But "boo hoo" They just about striped the crank bolt installing the irk offset with the keyway that hardly stuck out past the crank, throwing of the timing. We just got done fixing this nice new bike, pic's don't show the incompetence of the person who installed the rotor kit. I would except it from a 10yr old kid not wanting to wait for their fathers help... not a mechanic at there dealer. |

buddy from Orion emailed me this: You can take off the chrome cover form the clutch side and it will expose a flat head stud and a lock screw. You need to adjust the flat head and lock down the screw when your done. Adjust it until you feel the kick started having compression again. The clutches are a little tight form the factory and it thinks its in neutral so the kick start shaft wont engage the main shaft. PS don't be gentle with that flat head stud,.. cheap metals.. i broke mine by doing the adjustment.. i replaced it with a bolt anyways let me know if this helps | |
