Re: pitster pro 155z crate motor

wiring is easy

do not use green with red stripe

Blue to red

green/white to green/white

orande and blue go to a kill button

the last 2 wires go to the coil

does the 155 use a different kill switch than the 150? the harness has no plug on it to go to the old killswitch. as well is there no ground for the 155 like the 150 had?

and last but not least any mounting recommendations for the new much bigger cdi on a x4r?

thanks.

Re: pitster pro 155z crate motor

oh sorry i forgot ...

is the intake on the 155 smaller than that of the 150's?

i noticed that my old intake boot had a much larger "port" than the intake.

Ok good someone opened up a thread on this, ok i did all of the above, but the only thing is that my colors are kinda different and i got two female kill switch conections, HELP?

*do not use green with red stripe (i have that, i will not use it)

*Blue to red (mine is pink, Is that cool?)

*green/white to green/white (i did that!)

*orange and blue go to a kill button (mine has two coming off the harness? One is at the end of the harness with the motor wire conections and then one is split about half way down the harness and has the same female conection and color skeem ( green with a white stripe and black witha white stripe, WITCH ONE DO I USE?)

*the last 2 wires go to the coil (I did that, Coil wire Black with yellow stripe & a Solid Green wire with a eyelet for ground screw)

* Now i have another conection down buy the motor with a plastic snap conecrtor and a color skeem of (black wire with a red stipe & a red wire with a black stripe) Both harness side female and motor side male have the same color skeem So obviously those are ment to be.

If some one can let me know if this is all ok, i would highly appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: pitster pro 155z crate motor

hey maxed, does your coil only have 1 terminal on it? the coil from my 150 on a 08x4r has 2 terminals and a ground.

the wiring that came with my 155 had black with the ring terminal for a ground i assume, and the other wire baby blue. same color as the baby blue going up to the end of the harness with the orange for a kill switch.

edit:
oh yes and now that i think of it, does the 155 not have a lighting coil? my old harness had the spare plug which i had assumed to be for a light kit. the new harness does not.

well i heard that some of those harness have a extra wire for a light kit.

yes my coil dose have one treminal and then the other wire that comes off the harness is the eyelet for the ground.

Re: pitster pro 155z crate motor

the Z155s most likely have an extra wire for a neutral safety switch..that needs to be removed altogether....not just the wire but the switch itself..Matified posted a video on PP website showing how to remove it.

Re: pitster pro 155z crate motor

what exactly do you need..?

I have a complete Z ignition in my shop..I ran a two prong coil on it...but to be honest I never liked it..had low spark at low rpm..I went back to a modded YX flywheel/stator and it cranks alot easier.
give me about ten minutes and i will dig it out and see what goes where..

EDITED:......its cold dark and raring outside..
If Matt does not jump in here tonight I will let you know first thing tomorrow.....

If yours has pink you can run that to the red.
also with two blade coil, run the green side of coil to the ground or frame.

the black eyelet to ground and light blue ( could be mint green ) will go to the + side of coil.

ok, this part is all done. it is the baby blue wire and the black ground wire for the coil/plug wire i am concerned about.

my coil on my x4r that had the gpx150 in it originally had 3 wires, 2 to the coil and a ground. do i need a coil that only takes 1 wire and the ground?

and if so, does anyone know if there is a nology hotwire made for this application?

edit: ooops, you edited while i was posting.

so do i take a wire from the stock harness i removed and go from the negative blade to the ground with the black wire?

Make a jumper out of the old green wire on coil and run it to the ground shared with the new black eyelet, add the light blue to the coil where it used to have a black with a white stripe, the kill will now run from the front, light blue to black with white and orange to green on kill botton.

Re: pitster pro 155z crate motor

must say thanks again to matt, got the bike fired up and put back together tonight and headed out to do a break in run at my buddies farm track.

this 155z with the fmf definitely feels much snappier than my old 150 did. kind of happy i decided to just throw the old busted tail on tonight instead of the new one sitting there.

cant wait to get the v2 and s25 cam on it and the billet clutch!
