yes, but when buying a lxr it should come with a shock that works..... you shouldn't have to go out and spend another few hundred $$$ on a working shock when you fork out over 2 grand plus.. contact pitster before spending $$ on something else..

My shock works, every LXR I've seen at the track the shock works. Stuff breaks man, this is big guys riding little bikes. Hell we broke frames on GSXR600's last year... **** breaks.

I do know Pitster sells different weight rated springs for the DNM shock.

Good point, I dropped $3500 in suspension on my RoadRace bike last year, maybe I should have called Suzuki and told them to revalve it.

yup, you blew your seals, and just need it to be serviced. its happened 2 me 3 times, 1ce on my bike bike 2ce on my pit bike. only costs about 75 to fix no biggie.

trackstar, this situation is nowhere near the same as setting up a full blown race bike... this guy and others have dnm's that don't have enough rebound damping, and YES if suzuki had the same problem on a motocross bike they would stand behind it just like pitster does... i'd recommend upgrading to a fox, but if you don't want to at least i'm pretty sure pitster will hook you up with a working DNM shock.. sounds like the OP didn't have much time on his.. so i'm sure its not a situation of a shock that just needs to be serviced.. not sure on what size the shaft is or what size the valve shims are, but i'm fairly sure most suspension companies should be able to revalve the shock.. i haven't taken apart this type of a DNM shock, and i'm no re-valve expert... but i'm sure it could be re-stacked to slow the rebound down some.. wouldn't hurt to get some high quality fluid in there anyways..

just did a quick survey of the DNM shock, and it looks to be a normal rebuildable unit.. shaft guide/seal asm. has hex shape suggesting it is threaded on.. and rezzy looks to have typical bladder or floating piston setup.. i have a rm/kx 65 shock here i'm going to put my dnm spring on and bolt it on my lxr to see what it feels like.. |

So i put my 320 lb./in spring from the DNM shock onto a 03 RM65 shock and bolted it on the LXR. The rm65 shock i have is used and in need of a rebuild, but otherwise it feels like something the will work.. possibly better then the DNM shock.... Con of the kx/rm 65 shock is lack of compression adjustability, but it has much more rebound control then the DNM Pro of it is the price point you can pick one up for and if you can rebuild one yourself you could up the shock fluid one weight and it would better suit an adult rider.. stock shock fluid weight is 5w, so a 7.5w (possibly 10w) would slow compression down for the normal adult rider... |

well i said f-it and fired up the lxr for a few laps around my track with the rm65 shock.. even though its a well used shock that needs fresh fluid and a recharge i must say its rebound damping was better then my DNM shock ever could produce.. It felt close to what the Fox podium did on my lxr... after a rebuild and slightly heavier fluid i think it would be a cheap upgrade to the dnm shock.. |
