| SDG Speed Mini 2004 Kickstart Crunch
Hi all, my 04 SDG Speed Mini is crunching/grinding/slipping when I try to kick it over. What should I do? I have read that there is a fix kit for it. What do I ask for? Am I better off putting in a 125cc motor? Thanks in advance! |

Pull off the clutch cover and make sure the kickstarter idler gear didn't shear off the end of the countershaft, the SDGs were notorious for doing that.

also when that happens, the crankcase usuall cracks...may be better off just getting a new and updated motor....there is an upgrade kit for the engine to repair the flaw but they are hard to find......if ya find a donor Lifan 125 bottom end you can fix the problem

I'll get my buddy to check that out. I'm pretty much just a rider, not much of a mechanic! Am I better off just ditching this motor and getting a Jialing 125cc put in. This bike has been a nightmare! Thanks for your reply! All the best! |

Yeah, I have 2 of the 3V 107's and I have already did the update and some other mods to the motor to make it more bullet proof....it is ok now but I also have a Honda based 107 that was designed by Firepower minis and it is much better...more power across the board and no tranny issues.....you should get in touch with Terry (firepower354) of Firepower minis and he can get you a 125 for a great deal or whatever size motor ya want for that matter

open it up and see , just so you know there are not many parts for this type motor actually you better off putting a yx140cc motor in it let me know is we can help we can discount you for your core motor return on a new motor purchase

How would I mount the oil cooler? I can't see an oil cooler fitting. I have been looking at air cooled motors because they seem to be easier to fit. I am in Australia by the way, so I don't think shipping will work out very well for me. Thanks for your offer anyway. I have one of your top ends on my YX160 (other bike) and it rocks!!!!! It made my bike awesome and it has not missed a beat since. You sell some great stuff.

My '04 SDG has been great so far, put a lot of hard time on it this year. I am just really careful when starting it to always ease it past compression and always take up the freeplay in the kickstarter before kicking it.

Ah, correct kickstart tecnique!!! I guess I must have been too ruff! I grew up riding Jap bikes, these China bike are not quite as bulletproof.

We pulled it apart and found a shaft is broken. I think is called the output shaft. Its the shaft connected to the kickstart shaft. Can the part still be bought?

find a donor Lifan bottom end...or the SDG repair kit(Chapparal Motorsports may have it)...the problem is the shaft that is broken was designed with too small of a bearing making the shaft weak and very easy to snap.....usually the right half of the crankcase will break too...the repair kit comes with a beefier shaft that uses a larger bearing plus a complete right crankcase half...or like I said just get a donor Lifan bottom end....Firepower may have what ya need

Can I just replace the broken shaft with a Lifan one from a 124cc?

dude, I wouldn't even bother with that 107..... just buy a gpx125 or something, you'll be way happier... I was in the same situation that you are and I just went with the 125. Good luck with whatever decision you make. |

Sell it and get a Honda. If not just get a new motor and don't worry about this scrap heap. If you were in the states a lot of the vendors on here are having awesome deals on motors right now.

Yeah ok. I will just get a new motor. This bike was meant to be for my girlfriend but she was too scared to ride it. I have a few Z50r's and she loves em. I want her to give this bike a go, but what motor should I put in it that is tame, and reliable? If it was for me, I'd go a 140cc. But, I want to hand it over to her. I have an X4 GTX (Pitster Pro spec) 160cc and I love it. I have been considering doing a CRF50F build, or a KLX110. The Pitster X2 looks good. I want a mini thats gonna be tuff, but above all reliable for me to ride. Thanks too all you guys who have responded to my thread!!! |
