| YX 150 or New lifan 150?
Which would be best for a maximum power application? What shift pattern does the lifan have? Thanks |

Both are 4 up trans, if you plan to modify it go with a yx engine no doubt. But if I was leaving them stock I would go with the lifan.

im tossed up on that same problem, but i know i cant buy a yx and build it and be able to control it im just going to buy a lifan 150 for 350 bux! im going to port and polish the head, and buy a new cam put a 26 oko or mikuni on it im building my 140 the same way right now that is why im tossed up on the 150 but i hear out the box it is snappier and quicker than the yx |

Hands down the yx sine there is aftermarket support for it already. It is ahead of the pack. I'm digging the daytons style cover on the lifan though. And as for gobs of power. Remember the drivetrain takes beating.

Shortz, a YX with a higher compression piston is the easy choice. The squeeze gets back the low end, and the better breathing comes on the top. You can get YX's for under $50 0 shipped, and add a TB143 piston for $60. Portjob and cam in a 150 will cost nearly the same.

| Re: YX 150 or New lifan 150? That thing looks good. But, if you still need more both options are good. The Lifan 150 would use the head and cam you currently have. The 160 GPX with the Trailbikes V2 head would probably make more power after mods. But the next big issue for you is going to be your clutch. Probably going to have to look into a locker. lol - john

power is not the problem, it's the tranny. I could get you almost mid 20's on gas, but with 50% it would be more, but don't expect the tranny to live, no matter how much you cryo the stuff. It will need to be replaced. Period.

Weve had a problem with transmissions before on other bikes, and we got around that by going to a complete billet trans, or just a billet gear for the weakest gear. Last edited by blackjer; 04-05-2008 at 06:39 PM.

If you have those options at hand the YX is the hands down way to go. Build yourself a billet trans, billet clutch basket with 6 discs and at least 5 springs and put a 178+R setup on it and do the nitro thing. Good to go!
