its over rated and need big cc's to make full use it. v2 is cheap and easy power

My Mood: | Wow? That is really big bucks from what I am hearing actual cost is? ![]() What if some other 'deep discounting' PM vendor who regularly buys YX stuff brought them in and sold them 4 cheap? Sound familiar? What if the V2 and the 4-Valve were the same price... complete Kit 4 complete kit? Would that be a better value? What if the new 4-Valve was even cheaper than the V2 ???? Hmmm? What vendor would ever do such a thing ???? bob Last edited by MedinaMiniSX; 03-27-2009 at 01:55 AM. Reason: Humor... |

| Re: YX 4v heads ? Maybe the DOHC setup can actually flow at lower displacements and make power. : ) Depending on how that SOHC is setup, it may have terrible volumetric efficiency at 'normal' YX160 displacements that result in a craptacular power curve, boggy on bottom, sudden rip on top then flat on it's face. A V2 may beat it for most builds in that case. The DOHC may respond better at lower displacements allowing for a wider, more usable power band. On the flip side, the DOHC may not be the absolute king of the hill for peak HP on anything goes builds as a result.

Yeah, I'm thinking it may be kinda like putting a Lifan BVH on a 50... you're going to have to work pretty hard to make that setup function. I haven't gotten my hands on one of these SOHC heads yet, so I dunno what the valve sizes are, how the ports look, etc, so I'm just making some wild ass guesses based on the snippits I've seen posted in this thread. I'd love to play with one, as I think there is potential there, but I also don't want to invest money in a YX150/160 at the moment given the growing pains they're going through. I've got to settle on a motor repair or rebuild here shortly too... ESMRA is a possibility for me this year, plus I wanna terrorize NHMS for a couple track days... : ) |

The yx engines can be made to be a beast. You just need to fix a few of the manufactured errors. Many guy have been running the snot out of the older yx150s for years without issues. The answers to them are out there you just have to ask the right people and be willing to do the leg work for the right components. Not like a honda bolt on and rippem up. I am hoping to have mine bullet proof in a couple weeks.
