Well I finnaly got to tear my ttr down today and this is what I found all of the rings were fine, the cylinder wasnt scarred. I got out the micrometer and checked everything, the piston was within the limits of the stock 90 piston, the cylinder was also within the limits. The only thing about this that wasnt "normal" was that I decided to use MototuneUSA's procedure for breaking in the motor, and now I have a broken piston. good call. |

im going to send the piston back to yamaha and see if they will send me a new one. They should, the motor only ran for about 30 mins before it blew. Im hoping it is just a bad piston and not a problem with my setup.

I've used the mototune method on 4-5 different motors with no issues at all. Most important part of the equation....engine at operating temp; i.e. all the way warmed up and ready to go. |
