Thermo switch and Carb Heater needed??

Hey, just got a ttr50 today, bought it off ebay, and its fully modded, 107cc engine.. but i noticed today that the carb heater is missing and unplugged and the thermo switch is missing and unplugged. It it has an aftermarket carb on it. But I'm just curious if you can leave these parts off and not affect the the engine timing, saying like the cdi box thinking theres a short and thinking the engine is cold all the time causing it to run poorly.
I just put an aftermarket carb on my ttr110 and I left the carb heater unplugged and it had a bog in it and never ran right, I plugged the sensor up and grounded it out and it ran perfect.
Does anyone know for a fact if the sensor has to be hooked up to run, or can you leave the thermo switch and carb heater off and unplugged and the bike still run fine? Don't really want to spend about 60 bucks on 2 parts if i don't really need them.

OK cool, well found the problem, the bike did come out of las vegas and im in alabama, but i guess the previous owner adjusted on the carb, had to move the needle back down to the clenter clip, it was all the way up making it run lean. But its running alot better now, no bog and plug looks good now
but i was just curious about that heater and thermo switch if they had to be hooked up or not. Just like on a car if you unplug a sensor, it will throw a CEL and go in limp mood, but guess not the case on the carb bikes.
