I have a bone stock TTR50. From day one it never shifted gears great. I thought it was due to just needing broken in. This is my little girls bike and for first learning to ride she just drove around in 1st. Well now its been about a year she wants to shift gears and can not. It does shift but it is VERY hard - I myslf really have to work at it. I took it to the local dealer and they adjusted the clutch but it did not help much at all. I need some serious help here - what can I do?

quite a distance - any ideas I can try first? Anyone ever had this problem? Would be my luck to have bought a lemon... LOL

do you think its the actual GEARS, or just it takes alot of force to shift it with your foot?

Do u have shifter set low enough so u dont have to lift foot? That helped mine alot. Also i adjusted clutch just how this site recomended and that helped more yet. But it will not shift under acceleration.

its either the shaft is bent, or the shift drum is stuck

mine was pretty hard to shift till i adjusted it.

You should adjust it. Yamaha put out a memo stating that the factory setting was wrong, and the shifter needs to be adjusted.
