Hey guys, I had a few questions about buying a pipe for my 2008 KLX140. (I have the small wheel, not the L version). Currently, the only upgrades I have are the the front and back suspension. I have the heavy-duty BBR fork springs and a heavy duty BBR rear shock spring. I would like get a pipe for it as well, just wondering about which one i should get. In the future, I am definitely hoping to get a 26mm Keihin carb kit and possibly a 160cc bore kit, so I am looking for the best results in the longrun after I get those parts as well. I have only seen 4 possible ones that I could do that fit my 140 after doing some research: BBR D2 Pro Circuit T-4 FMF PowerCore 4 Two Brothers M6 (brand new) Curious to what you guys think would be the best for my 140 out of these four, and if you had any other suggestions that you think would be better I'd love to hear those too! Also, I have heard that slip-on exhausts do not add any power gain to the bike and quiet core inserts basically defeat the purpose of buying an aftermarket pipe, hoping you could shed some light on that too. Hope to hear from you soon! -dirtshreddax21 |

Really? Did you notice a big power gain when you first put it on?

there is an excellent article in I believe it was last months Dirt Rider magazine. They put the stiff springs, the engines only 160 bore kit, the new carb and intake kit, and the fmf exhaust on it. Ill see if I can find the article on the net somewhere. They basically loved it and said it was like night and day difference after those mods. If your just putting the pipe on you wont notice anything crazy for gains, the 160 kit is the way to go, with the new carb and intake. haha its funny how quiet these bikes are I just picked up an 09 klx140l and half the time I dont even know if the bike is running its quieter than my 50 |

actually Engines only now makes a pipe that they claim works the best with their 160 big bore kit and intake/carb kit. I think they even have the dyno charts to prove it

BBR D2 exhaust is what I got and I think its great. Although a bit loud for the neighbors it sounds awsome. I ended up getting the quiet core for it. Go BBR all they way.
