92 xr100 - Camshaft worn - solutions?

I have a 92 xr100. We picked it up super cheap.

Upon rebuilding the motor, we found the camshaft has a flat spot. This would explain the idling issue.

Where would you guys recommend purchasing a replacement?

You can get them on ebay all the time. I may have one. I'll check for ya.

If you want to go aftermarket, I'd run a HotCam or similar.

A few of the advertisers have the Trailbikes cam. It's a good stock replacement, with a bit more duration than the stocker, though the performance gains are small.

Re: 92 xr100 - Camshaft worn - solutions?

Hot Cam seems a slight bit too pricey... It cost more than what I paid for the bike lol.

I'll mostly likely get the TB. Just need to find a rocker in decent shape now.

Well when your yacht docks, feel free to get them shipped. Can't wait to beat on the paperweight.

Should ship tomorrow. I dragged a bunch of stuff out to the box today, but nobody came to pick it up. Holiday, schmoliday. Some guy rents a boat from the queen, sails it off the edge of the Earth, and the mailman gets a day off, 517 years later. Utter nonsense.

absoluetly, just have to assemble the motor. I'll make sure to post up a video of us hauling a sled on asphalt.

Re: 92 xr100 - Camshaft worn - solutions?

boom! it runs.

Installed the cam and rocker today. Re-mounted the motor.

and then.... murphy showed his ugly face. I was tightening (hand-tightening) down an exhaust bolt when the head snapped off. ERRRRRRRRRRRR. So it's running, but not idling... which I think may be an issue with the Carb or maybe even the exhaust leaking.
