carb question

Ive got a '96 xr100 and swapped the airbox for a pod air filter. I experimented with several main jets and found the 105 to work well under normal conditions, but when going up a hill at WOT the revs fall off it starts sputtering and exentually stops. Is this something that can be adjusted or only cureable by putting the airbox back on?

I have a gsxr1100 that i swapped the airbox for pod filters and it required larger main jets and smaller pilot jet cus in theory they overlap.

Also, anyone have any feedback on a 30mm carb on ebay for $39, sounds to good to be true?

Re: carb question

Well... A stock XR100 is gonna run out of power on a steep hill. A downshift or gearing change will help. 105 might be a bit big.

That 30mm is NOT a good upgrade.

Re: carb question

I actually drove out to PCC motors, the place selling the carb. Its a mail order warehouse. They have boxes and boxes of mini stuff. The carbs are loose in boxes. The carbs look like name brand carbs (Mikuni etc), but where I saw it in person it looked like a knock-off. It may work just fine, but you get what you pay for. For $40 it might be worth a try. Tell us how it works out if you go that route.

Agreed...going to up the mm's on the carb you need to get a bigger bore intake and 30mm is a little to big for the 100.Check your plug and see how it's running.Plug should be white but not so lean as to melt the electrode.Try a 102 or a 102.5.
