| My next problem: Won't Idle
So... -Did a full rebuild. New top end gaskets. Wiseco 54mm piston with new rings. Cleaned off valves, and lapped them. -I got firepower's cam in... I believe I got the timing right. I took it easy this week for a little breaking in. -Fixed the broken exhaust bolt, replaced it. Seems to be a decent seal. Now, the bike rides fine.. whines out each gear pretty well. Seems to be running slightly rich. I'm guessing that because of a slight black smoke and a gassy smell. But, I cannot get it to idle. I adjusted the idle screw (in and out, in and out) and I cant seem to find a sweet spot. I start it with the choke on, switch to off.. then it revs pretty high then slowly comes down until it dies. It also has a little bogging under WOT. wachu guys think? |

Also, cleaned up the plug with some fine grit sandpaper. Maybe I'll try buying a new plug..

Make sure your pilot jet isn't clogged if you didnt already, that will cause it to not idle at all. and a plug is a good idea too. |

i sprayed carb cleaner through and through. It seemed pretty clean. I'm thinking the slight crack in the intake manifold may be the cause of the problem. I sealed it with caulk awhile back, and I think the heat (caulks not made for heat) may have made it leaky again. |

Carb needs to come apart. The needle and slide sound like they are hanging up. The jets need to be extra clean so you can see through them. Check the timing again also just for ****s and giggles. Also you need to bone that broken intake and replace it with one that is good. |

I was thinking that... I got it to idle about an hour ago. But, When I rev it and let it go back to idle, it dies. So i'm thinking the needle is getting hung up somewhere. How do you fix this? Lube? giggity. | |
