My Mood: | what would u guys buy
The series i race in has a big bike open and im gonna start racin in it. My question to u guys is what bike would u buy. It cant be any bigger than a 250 and it has to be air cooled. Im leaning towards a klx140 or a crf150f. Its gonna be my first big bike so i really dont want to go as big as a 250. Was just wondering what u guys thought. Thanks in advance. the crf150f is a good bike, even in stock form its awsome, throw on a 230 cylinder piston cylinder and head and have bbr bore it to a 250 (it can be done, 150f and 230f are the same as far as tranny and everything else besides the top end, just swap them over and get bbr's bigbore kit and you'll have a monster!

The KLX140L is a great bike with lots of suspension hop ups available. However, the motor mods are limited at this point. I'm guessing you are limited by a 250cc (2-valve air-cooled) rule and possibly wheel size (19"/16") since you are looking at KLX140s and CRF150Fs. If it were me, I'd buy a CRF230 and put the CRF150F wheels on it, get a high compression piston and you'd be set...unless you had the money for other modifications. Good luck!

Both of those are good bike's, maybe have a look at the Pitster LXR 14.It's a lot lighter, better suspension, more power(easy choices for power),has great handling, roomy cockpit. I got one and i love this bike(iv'e had over 30 through the year's, going on 52 year's young)and if you want to race, this bike is alot more race bike then those other two,oh it's the size of a 85(wheelbase,peg/seat distance, cockpit), check it out.

there is something to be said about driving to your local honda or kawi dealership and getting parts.. or ordering from dennis kirk or motosport and getting the parts easily...

AND, as a bonus, put 12/14 wheel's on, and you got a awsome pitbike for the midsize class.

| Re: what would u guys buy You have a point, but this was not my experience. My experience whenever I needed a part for my last Honda was to call the dealer, find out it wasn't in stock, wait for them to order it and then wait a couple days before I could drive over and pick it up. Whenever I've needed a part for my Pitster, I call Gary and they deliver it to my house in a few days. It's actually been less hassle getting parts for my Pitster.

last time i checked though.. Dennis Kirk doesn't stock Pitster parts. Not ripping on pitsters, just think that if your gonna spend that kinda loot on a bike.. The honda or Kawi is a better bang for the buck
