| 1988 Honda ZB50 for sale Northern California
Hi folks, This is my very first post on this forum. I found the forum to see what info is out there regarding my Honda zb50. I've got this bike that I am thinking about selling and here is the scoup on it. I am 34 and I have a sister that is 37 now... anyway back in 1988 my sister bought the Honda zb50 brand new and I bought a used 1989 Yamaha YSR50... I rode the ysr50 for a few months then ended up selling it because I was getting into other stuff spending my money on my car and jet ski. ( I wish I still had that bike it was a blast ). Anyway, my sister kept the Honda but moved out of state shortly after. The bike has been parked in my parents garage since then. I am at my parents house now and the bike has 1,134 miles on the odometer. It is completely stock. It has been sitting for 12 years now ( maybe longer...tags on lic plate are april of 1994 ). I have the clean title. Since the bike has not been registered in over 10 years, there is no fee's from CA DMV, it is just a transfer fee of pink slip $15 ( confirmed this with dmv ) and paying for new registration ( which is whatever the cost is for registering the bike for a year). The tank did have gas in it and me and my dad removed the tank and emptied the old gas. The tank does need to be cleaned and creamed ( we did this to my dads old kawasaki gpz750 gas tank and it is perfect, it also sat for years and years with gas in the tank but now it is fine with the cleaning and creaming ) The tank does have one or two dings but other than that this zb is very clean. It is missing the mirrors and that is my fault. I remember as a kid saying they looked like mickey mouse ears and removed them and I have no idea where they are today. It has been in a garage so it has zero sun damage or anything like that. The seat is perfect the frame is perfect... the only other negitive thing is some of the turn signal plasitc lens covers are cracked. Let me know if anyone is interested. I expect to be offered what it is worth... anyone that wants to low ball need not get back to me. Thanks. |

1st off... does your sister realize you're trying to sell her beloved ZB? You can't expect to get top dollar offers on a bike that no one has seen. Post pics. If the tank has dents & dings the value goes down. If the tank is rusted or sludged inside the carb will be too. If you want top dollar for it, do the work it needs and then put the bike on ebay. Ebay is your best bet to get what it's really worth. If the bike isn't mint you're gonna get lowball offers. Especially here. Last edited by d0n; 03-12-2006 at 08:41 PM. |

...Okay no problem, just thought I would let you guys have first crack at it... regarding my sisters bike... she now lives across the united states ( Florida ) and again is 37 and could care less about a 50cc bike she bought 18 years ago. If I want to sell the bike, she will have no problem with that at all. I am very aware of what work needs to be done to the bike as we have done the same thing to a 1982 Kawasaki GPz 750 that was in the same condition... that bike was used the first couple of years then parked. It was in storage ( again unfort. with gas in the tank ) so we had to spend many hours cleaning and creaming the tank and the 4 rail carb system on the gpz... the honda zb50 will be a piece of cake compaired to the gpz. I thought this would be a good place to get a good offer but I guess Ebay seems to be the best but I have no idea how to sell something on ebay.. for now I will click off some pics and post it on a site that I am familiar with called craigslist... anyway thanks for the info.

you guys that own ZB's... do you have an actual title? In NY they consider the ZB a "limited use vehicle" so it doesn't have a title... only a transferrable registration.

nice job! Musta been a pain in the ass tho!? In NY the ZB doesn't require or come with a title. It's classed as a "special use vehicle". The only way to sell a zb in NY is with a transferrable registration... which is supposed to be the same as a title. | |
