Is it necessary to run the oil cooler that comes with the lifan 150?

there is a huge debate on whether an oil cooler is necessary or not. Personally I would run it.

I dont see the need for an oil cooler, but if its already on the bike and setup and mounted why not run it?

It came w/ the engine, I have ran the engine a little bit w/out it and it runs fine. I don't want to reduce the life of the engine but I also don't want to run the cooler if I don't have to.

If you don't want to run the oil cooler, simply put a oil temp guage on and monitor and be done with it.

Keeping the oil temperature down will prevent clutch slippage in case you run high revs for some time, ie. track use. Actually I used to do some mild track use, on a high compression engine and after some laps, you could feel the clutch wasn't doing the job right. The difference with your engine would be that mine at the time, came with only 3 clutch disks and yours should have at least 4, even 5. I would definatelly use the oil cooler. |

Street application i have noticed a difference. Specially if its only like 45 degrees outside the motor stays way cooler along with the oil. Dirt application not so much. They do look cool tho and add to BLING factor. |
