Piranha engine or TB bore kit?

My "beater" ZB won't run anymore (Can't seem to figure it out, but it's a 72cc big head but it was cobbled together with a mishmash of parts and I'm sick of monkeying with it) so I figured I'd throw a BBK kit at it instead of trying to ressucitate it. I know I have an e22 head and a solid bottom end so I figured I could either get a TB 88cc racehead kit TB 88cc Bore Kit for Race / e22/ CRF70 head

or go for an entire 90 cc piranha Piranha 90cc Engine.

Pros for TB 88; stick with Honda bottom end and lighting stator
Cons; have to buy assorted bits, such as intake, throttle cable, etc. making the cost more than the Piranha. Already have a ZB with this basic kit.

Pros for Piranha; I can basically drop it in (adding my 18mm carb I have sitting in the garage), plus have a 4spd semi-auto.
Cons; have to swap lighting stator over to the new engine, unknown quality of the piranha.

What do you guys think?

if you're on the street, get the engine....it's worth it just to have the extra gear. i'd save up for a 125 tho

You might have to do some work to get it up to the acceleration of a tb88rh, but it should be a nice start. Maybe a 54mm crank for a 69mm jug if it fits.

I agree with Lenny, go bigger in cc's like the 192 Firepower crate motor. 90 cc is not enough. Go bigger, trust me you will keep up with the traffic easier & it will be a lot more fun to ride.

Those P90 motors are no slouch. 49.5mm stroke, 4 speed, e22 head with a 5.25/5.5 lift cam, stock. A Wiseco CRF70 piston, and a little port cleanup makes a decent 88 class mount.

Add a 52.4mm jug & slug, or the TB 54mm for 107-114cc and a rippin "small-block".

I like 'em

The 140's are a sweet bargain, and I may be pulling a couple from new rollers next week, for a better deal yet, if you're in the market for a bigger mill.
