| Seat cover
I am assuming nobody in Japan or the US sells a Black Seat cover for a ZB50, right? Who recovered your seat? did they screen print the Honda logo onto the back of the seat? I would like to get my seat recovered in black, and it would be nice if there was somebody from the forum or locally that covers seats.

I got mine done by a local guy, he did a good job. No logo, however. |

Stencil cost $4 SEAT STENCIL (HONDA) If your seat has the old cover on it then any upholstery shop should be able to make it for you. They can use the old cover to make a pattern, so it should be a piece of cake. Look in the phone book under "auto upholstery," call a few shops to see if they do motorcycle seats. Then you can take your seat over and get an estimate. It should be in the $75 -$150 range. -R |

I did it for the first time and found it was pretty easy to do it yourself. The material is pretty stretchable, it just takes a little patience. I found it much easier to do with some 3m spray glue (make sure it's 3m, the cheap sh**don't work), then stretch/pull/staple. The hardest part for me was cutting a pattern because I was to lazy to take off the other one to copy. I was afraid to cut to much, and I quickly learned that bigger isn't better (makes it difficult to staple/stretch : ) The spray glue makes it stick to the old fabric and allows you time to stretch out the wrinkles. If your old one is in good shape, the black vinyl spray paint at Pep Boys works pretty darn good. PS Japan Auctions have ZB50 seat covers in every color and pattern. It would be cheaper to take it to a shop though.. Last edited by dicktony; 03-02-2009 at 01:54 PM. |
