Skyteam /ZB Gas tanks

I have 2 skyteam gas tanks. A black one and a red one. Just wanted to point out a few thing if you decide to get one.

This is the red Skyteam tank ZB replica bike.

This is a Skyteam key and cap.The blue protection plastic is still covering the chrome.

They don't paint underneath the tanks so they rust fast.

It has Skyteam stamped on the bottom.

Re: Skyteam /ZB Gas tanks

This is where the Skyteam stamp is located.

The ZB cap fits the Skyteam tank better than the Skyteam tank cap.Caps are hard to find without the key hole cover intact.

Re: Skyteam /ZB Gas tanks

This is the black one I got repainted. Thanks bobby-v for the ZB decals he made up.I am happy with the final product does not look bad for a knock off tank and reproduced decals.

The tank was painted underneath and you can slightly see the Skyteam emblem on the bottom of the tank. The Honda tank has no emblem in that particular spot.

Is there much difference in shape between the Skyteam & Honda ZB Tank ?

The recessed parts on the side of the Tank , where the seat fits upto , is this the same size/shape + position when on the bike as a Honda ?

Identical tanks, It is the same tank. The black one is painted and it is very hard to tell that it was a Skyteam tank at one time.

Thanks Wurms. It just makes it an cheaper solution to getting a new ZB tank that are discontinued and go for as much as $500 NOS, like Z said.

Re: Skyteam /ZB Gas tanks

Except it has a thinner guage metal and the finishing isn't near as nice.

Just make sure you get the Honda rubber dividers that sit along the edges of the tank or your frame will hammer the tank paint and metal.

I found a good deal on a NOS tank, stripped and custom painted it for my ZB50 project. The purists are turning over in their grave..

Z... I wasn't aware of the thinner guage metal used on the tank. Thanks for the info.
The Skyteam tanks have a very thin coat of paint that had tons of orange peel spots on it. Paint job sucked.

Your sprayer has done an excellent job,

Try pushing it harder to the front when installing. It is a tight fit. They don't go on as easily as the Honda tank.

Clicked on the link, but didn't see any tanks that look like they are for the ZB. Do I have to call? Anybody have a part# for the skyteam one?
