Stock Seat Height

I did a search and didn't come up with anything on the forums so here's my question!

What is the height from the ground to the seat when in a completely vertical position (i.e. you're riding in straight line), on a stock zb, on 10" wheels.

About 28"?

Thanks!

Re: Stock Seat Height

Not in owners manual but I found it on the back of the original 1988 ZB brochure.
Seat height 26 inches.

Re: Stock Seat Height

What's the largest size tire you could fit to a zb?

Thanks for the reply tmas!

This is a 130 90 10 tire beside a 3.5 x 10 tire. The 130 is close to the chain and will require a longer kickstand because it will make the bike sit higher. The other pic is the 130 90 10 on a ZB. I think member d0n had a 140.

And it's not recommended running that large of a tire on a ZB50 stock rim. The biggest tire that should be mounted on a stock rim is 110/80/10, and a 120/70/10 is stretching it.

Re: Stock Seat Height

Sorry I worded that incorrectly, I meant like largest rim size + a tire - Without serious modification. I guess with fabrication it could get as big as you wanted, but I'm just saying without any serious work how big can the tires+rims get in inches.

Again, thanks for all the responses.

You can run a modified NSR50 Swingarm and 12" NSR50 tires with a 120/80/12. You can run NSR50 fork legs with aftermarket triple clamps and a 12" wheel in the front as well.

What are you trying to accomplish? Jack up the bike so you can meet the minimum required seat height in your state? ZB50's are 50 state street legal.

Re: Stock Seat Height

If you want to run wider rims on a ZB50, you are going to have to switch to 4 bolt early Z50 hubs and then you can run a 3.5" wide rim with a 120/70/10 tire in the front and rear. Any way you look at it, you'll be modifying your bike if you want to go with bigger wheels.

Re: Stock Seat Height

Alright! Well, the reason I ask is because I would love to get a pit bike, but I wanna be able to sit pretty comfortably on it as it would basically become my daily driver for around town. Short rides so as long as I can be comfortable for ~10-15 minutes it would be fine.

I just would like bigger wheels so I sit higher up. I mean there are other ways of doing it, but I'd like it to stay semi-proportional so bigger wheels seem like a good way to go.

Also I like the look of the bigger wheels. I posted in the intro section and said I had my eye on a badboy cx, but that had 14" wheels which just made it feel beefier. The 10" version I saw just looked kinda goofy with such little wheels. PLUS I like the stying of the tank a whole lot more than the badboy, so that's why I'm going with the zb and I was just wondering how big the wheels could get.

Actually my local scooter shop stocks them, that's where I saw them first and I got to rest ride one.

Then I posted somewhere else about them and someone threw a photo of zb50 up and finally the owner of the shop had mentioned the zb50 when we were talking about the badboy.

Re: Stock Seat Height

How much $$ do you want to toss at this project? If I were going to use a ZB50 for a daily commute, I'd be doing the NSR50 suspension and wheel conversion, but it can get expensive fairly quick.

Re: Stock Seat Height

I dunna, it's a project that I'm doing with my father.

I expect I'll spend about 600 on the ZB with it's shipping costs and then after that I'll have another 400 to spend on tires, blinkers, mirrors, etc.

Re: Stock Seat Height

Not meaning any offense but that amount of cash won't get you anywhere near 12" wheels on a ZB.

Your best bet is to pickup a used Honda scooter. You can probably find a good looking Honda Elite for less than $1k. They run forever and are pretty smart looking...

Re: Stock Seat Height

I said 400 to get it up and running with 10" tires.

Then I can allocate funds for modifications later.

What is a reasonable amount one has to put into a ZB to fit 12+" wheels?

Edit: Oh, and no offense taken.

Re: Stock Seat Height

I agree with Pauch, instead of getting a monkeybike or ZB and spending money to try and make it look like a big bike, just buy a bigger bike or scooter and be done with it

Project ZB = $600
Parts = $400
To get it the way you want it = +$800 to $1000

Getting some quality time with your father to build a sweet ride = PRICELESS!!!

Dude, go for it. Build it.

Peace,
