I just traded my 230F for a 150R and love the power, but need to find a way to quiet it down. I'm looking for recommendations on the quietest mod for this bike. Some sacrafice in performance is acceptable. If there is an effective insert, that would be great. I would prefer to not buy a new muffler (looks like they start at around $300), but if that is the only really effective way to address the noise, so be it. I'm not looking for 4-5 dB; I'd like to reduce it at least 10 dB and need a spark arrestor. Thanks for any assistance.

I am in the same boat as you. i just picked up a 2007 and it really barks with the stock exhaust. The FMF Q series seems to have the best rep for decibal reduction. I have not heard it on a 150r but I have seen how radically the q series quiets the 450r. The 150R model seems to run between $300-350.

Another option might be an insert called the DB Dawg (1-800-783-5859). It is a baffle that fits into the stock silencer. Claims a 5-10 db reduction and the 150
R model is less than $50. I am thinking of getting one for my 150F BBR pipe just to see how well it works. Cheaper than shelling out $350 and not being happy with the result. Otherwise I am going to go with the FMF Q.

Pro Moto Billet sells an insert as well I know they sell for under 200 bucks and can get a 450 within 96Db so look into that as well. You wont sacrifice a whole lot of performance but will definitely be quiet man.
