Choke Lever

We just got a 2002 xr70 and can't figure out if the upper or lower position turns the choke on. And when you give it gas it boggs down, is this because the petcock is bacwards or something in the carb?

Re: Choke Lever

up is on choke, down is off. It sounds like your slow speed jet is dirty I would try cleaning it. or you may need to rase the clip on the needle, also make sure the clip that holds the needle down in the carb is in correct(not the clip on the needle).this one looks like a v w/ each end curving around

Re: Choke Lever

so this involves the same thing, ok i rode my bike on the road twice trying to see the speed of it, and first time was at night and it was a bit cold (don't think that deals with anything other then being nicer to the engine lol) then the second time was during the day and it was a little warm but more so just a nice day out.

first, night, it ran good no problems at all.

second time, day, i was going full out and then out of no where the bike just starts bogging and bam im at a stop slowly after i let off and hit the breaks slowly. the bike then dies when im stopped, i try kicking it again, nothing, kicked it a few more times, nothing. well i looked around and nothing looked wrong so i just tried moving the choke up, i kicked it, it started....now idk what that was about but it was running and i didn't have to give any gas to keep it running, well i start going hit it to second, gave some gas to keep going and it started bogging, i moved the choke down while going before it died and it stopped bogging and i was able to go full out again, but later it did the same thing....

i have to start with choke up, then go with it up till i go to second and then i have to click it down....whats the deal with that?
