I bought my girlfriend a 99 xr70, didn't run but cleaned the carb and got it running. There is a ticking or knocking noise coming from the left side of the motor. I didn't let it run long, something definitely isn't right. Checked oil, and valves, timing, the cam chain tensioner spring is longer than it should be, so i bought new cam chain, spring and the plastic cap for the tensioner. Getting ready to put back together just wondering if there is anything else i should check while i have it all apart.

How much longer was the worn cam chain? I've seen some real streched ones.

it really doesnt look that much shorter than the old one, like almost identical. i had the stator plate off and was kicking it over and the tensioner moves like crazy. i dont know if thats normal. and my girlfriend almost took the chain off by hand with the tensioner in

dub, you ready to put some zokes on that bike yet? I got a set of KTM 65 forks coming off a bike real soon.

Cam chain tensioner is bad, replace it.

Looks like you are going to need a longer swingarm now
