My Mood: | Engine for road legal
Im looking to purchase/build an engine, I want a real monster and im not on a budget really but i do want a few choices to choose from cause at the moment i just dont know where to look, theres so much stuff to compare and choose from! power, acceleration, top speed, as well as reliability etc..... Currently I have a highly tuned 140 engine witch tops out at 74mph (ragging the balls off it though) and im having to service the piston and rings every 3000+ miles or so,not exactly sure it could be a lot more. it screams past 160 engines Before anyone asks me why I need to go any faster > well I would like to cruise at 70mph rather than scream at 70mph and, who says you cant go faster off the lights info to consider > Ive got 12" wheels (if I think of anything else Il add it here) im lost, what to choose. takegawa DOHC? honda nice bottom end with DOHC. someone with lots of knowledge of different engines on the road would be great thanks Last edited by Despise; 09-30-2009 at 10:45 PM. |

192V2 sounds just right. Around $1100.

Yep, needle bearing upgrade. I'll do the rest of the pricing tomorrow. Too tired for math

Well, that's the best option that I offer. A 4v Nice would be awesome, durable, and pricey.

Let me throw my 2 cents in here. I have a gpx177v2 mounted up in a honda CT70 that can hit a top speed of 85mph. Comfortable cruising, that is 6000-6500 rpm range) is 55-60mph. If you are trying to cruise at 70mph, your only option is going to be a 192 v2, with porting and cam to make it happen on the cheap. You'll also need to put some custom gears on it.l At 12" to make this happen, you'll need a 120/80-12 tire on the back, a 17T gear on the front, and a 29t gear on the back. Hopefully, you won't have tire or chain clearance issues with that small of a sprocket. I run a 17/33 setup with the same tire on my pitster motard and can reach 80mph with my current setup. My 170v2 doesn't have anymore to give powerwise so that is as fast it will go. I figure with a firewpower 192 and portwork along with some gearing I could probably pull into the 90's, but really don't have a need for it.
