Question Skid Plate Design

Considering the purchase of a skid plate. After viewing many manufacturers designs, it seems to me that mounting the skid plate to the cylinder would be a no-no. Please advise? Also, is there a manufacturer(s) that have an alternate means of attachment? I was thinking that running struts up to the frame would be the proper method (I haven't investigated this to see if it is feasible). Any info/comments would be appreciated.

most of the weight is in the back where the skid plate is mounted to the pegmounts. I got mine from sgr cuz it was only 35 bucks. It works pretty well

Wink Re: Skid Plate Design

Thanks for the replies. I asked the question because I wanted to ensure that stress on the cylinder via an impact would be precluded with a better mounting system. I purchased a used skid plate from ebay for several reasons: the aluminum alone is worth the cost & I will use as a template to make improvements if warranted. Once again, thanks for your opinions.
