My Mood: | Front wheel offset
Put on some new forks the other day and my wheel isnt in the center of the forks. If you are facing the bike from the front wheel, the wheel is offset to the left by 1/2''-1'' or so. The spacer is on opposite side of the brake (like its supposed to be). The wheel spins true and straight, its just not in the center of the fork legs. I can barely feel it pull ot the left when riding. Any suggestions to help fix this

Mite pass on that wall idea, but umm...thanks. The tire hits the ground after every wheelie, so thats kind of like a wall, maybe. All suggestions are welcome here |

post pics......what forks were on the bike before? Did you put the spacers on the right sides? Are the top tubes equal in the triple clamps? Are your sliders sticking in the stancions? Does your front brake operate ok? More info please..............

Brakes are work fine, spacers are correct. Forks on the bike prior to work a set off knock offs from PCCmotor.com, the forks seem squared up normal at the clamp, even and not longer than the other. "sliders and stancions?" what are these you speak of

I think I was told once that the part of the leg that does not slide is called a stanchion, this is the part you put the seals in. If you have a bent slider it will stick sometimes when compressed. But what do I know......

Got it, but nothing is bent or irregular. All seems in working order, just the wheel is not centered to the right. More suggestions and thoughts please. No bearings are missing, spacers, etc.

If you are looking at the bike from the front and the top of the wheel is to the left . Means the right fork (the real right fork) is longer than the other . Try taking that right fork leg out and make sure the bushing and the spring is all the way on and the pin is ok . And it goes all the way up into the fork . It could also mean the left side fork bushing is messed up causing the left fork leg to be pushed in farther . Last edited by Crazy D; 09-04-2009 at 07:37 PM. |
