| Rear Hand Brake
So i've been wanting to get into stunting with my bike, an '07 china 50 with a 110 engine in it. all ive done to it so far was put on a set of bar risers and new plastics. i want to get a rear handbrake set up, and stunt pegs, but it has a rear drum brake. is there a way to set up a rear handbrake with Drums? and if not, what is the cheapest way to get a disk set up on it?

Yes, there is a way to put a handbrake on a rear drum. I have one on my Honda 50. I got mine from 50 Stunt. I think the kit is way overpriced and I held out for a long time before buying it. I just was too lazy to piece it together myself. But it's of very high quality. You can piece it together yourself for half of the price. You just have to find a creative way to hold the end of the cable on the swingarm. |

do you have any pictures of it? i've had a few ideas, but once i actually start to plan them out they either cost way to much or are just way to elaborate and dont seem reliable. ill do some research from 50stunt and see what i can find there edit: checked out 50 stunt, they want 99.99$ for the kit which consits of a 13$ lever, and brake cable (cant be more than 20$) and a bracket. i can fab the bracket up myself, but does anyone know what length of cable I would need, and where i could get it for for cheap? This 50 stunt stuff is too much money thing comes up from time to time. The bottom line is his stuff is 2nd to none as far as quality and the r&d is done for you. You can buy all the pieces seperately. The clamp is $40, cable $25, lever $14. That's all you need if you want to ditch the rear brake pedal. If you want to keep the pedal you need that brake rod adaptor, which is the one thing he has that is overpriced & easy to fab up. P.S. Who ever told you 50's were cheap entertainment for big kids lied to you. |

yeah, but still decent quality stuff. I have used this, 50 stunt and fast50s they all work just fine. biggest difference is quality of levers and perch. Last edited by jsander9; 10-10-2009 at 03:02 PM. |

the only thing keeping me from buying any of that is my swing arm is a box style, not tubular, and i notice that all the clamps are for tubular swingarms. not saying i cant fab it up, but im most likely gonna buy the lever and cable seperatly, and fab up a mount that will also allow me to use the pedal.

sorry i haven't answered any questions......forgot to check back on this thread... The lever is just a cheap metal chrome lever (works just fine) just not the high quality of an asv lever or 50stunt lever. Still perfectly workable. For the bracket to be able to use your handbrake and footbrake........my buddy went and bought a stick of metal (pretty thin) from Lowe's and drilled the holes out so he could run both. Took maybe 20min to make and cost about $.50 cents GOodluck. |
