You could use an old cooler. Seems to work excellent!

Today I received the most perfectly packaged motor ever. No oil leaking out of it. Exactly what you described. No mess. JUST PERFECT. That is a great idea! Nice work. Thanks so much. A pleasure as always. Take care, Mike |

I ship all my motors in a cardboard box. I found a box at Lowes for under $3.00 that is extra thick and is a perfect fit for a Honda 50 motor. I like to lay a hard platform on the bottom so the motor will not come through. Plug the kicker/ shifter shaft with rubber nubs, and plug all open holes (intake, breather). I've seen too many motors come in hard plastic containers and come cracked/damaged. I've never had any problems with the cardboard box method, and i've shipped over a handful of motors off. As long as you know how to pack, your good to go. Key thing is to keep the motor from moving around in the package, stuff 'er tight! Shipping is usually no more than $50 shipped in the U.S. |

No, I understand. I do know how the carriers treat the packages, its awful! I had a CRF150 motor shipped to me back in a plastic bin, and I received it with the whole left side of the bin destroyed. Looked like it fell off the fork lift. It all depends on the individual(s) processing your package. Go FEDEX |

How do you secure the top of the cooler? Duct tape or something?

i just use a regular old cardboard box. i drain all the oil out then put the motor in a plastic bag the put newspaper on the bottom of the box, a few inch layer of styrofoam peanuts then put the motor in and fill it up the rest of the way. ive shipped like 3 motors that way and they all made it fine. usuall around 45 to ship

well ive never had the above happen. if you use a big enough box and put enough peanuts in it that it doesnt move that wont happen that bin looks pretty solid tho. i may have to try that in the future if i ship another one |

Ryan is the WINNER!!!! Cooler is the best! Just say NO to the dreaded stryo peanuts!!!! I hate picking them out of every oil soaked crevice on a typically packaged motor. AHHHH!!! LOL! Slapaho is DA MAN!

Styrofoam peanuts are for shipping your grandma a snow globe for her collection, not a 35lb engine. Expanding foam, sprayed in the bottom of the tote/cooler/coffin, then the bagged engine set on it before it fully hardens, then tightly packing around it with high-density foam works for me. I usually roll it end-for-end across the floor. If you hear or feel it moving around, start over.

I'll second the expanding foam with the motor in a garbage bag. Works great and locks the motor down too. Then I put as much thick Styrofoam around everything so it doesn't move in a decently thick box. I take the carb, kicker and shifter off too; put those in a zip lock bag and put them in a small box, put packing in it, so if the motor shifts it doesn't do any damage to the carb.
