Re: Need a 1980 Z50R rear hub

I have one for a '78 Z50A. I'm not sure they are the same , maybe someone else will know if they'll interchange. Let me know if I can help.

Re: Need a 1980 Z50R rear hub

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure it it will go. The wheels are different. Are there 3 bolts that mount the hub to the wheel or 4. Mine have 3 and the wheels have wider slots (not round) in the wheel rim to access the mounting bolts.

You're right. I did'nt realize the later models had three bolts. Mine has four . I new the wheels were different but I had no idea the hubs were. Sorry. Good luck though.

Re: Need a 1980 Z50R rear hub

I just did a closer look, and the wheel has extra holes in it so a 4 bolt pattern may fit. So 2 questions:

Do you have the wheel as well? and

What do you want for the hub.

Again, thanks for helping out with this.

Just an FYI, the 4-bolt older Z50 hubs use a larger diameter brake panel and shoes than the later model Z's with the 3-bolt pattern.

Re: Need a 1980 Z50R rear hub

Thanks for the heads up. I am new to this and just getting familiar with these types of bikes. I assume the hub would work, but would have to change the brake shoes to the right size. I would prefer to find a proper hub and keep it all original. Just found a website/restoration shop that might be helpful. Honda Z50 Hubs

I don't have the wheel . I think that the hub has the brake panel and lever still on it. If you are still interested I'll go dig it out of the box. I won't know until Tuesday night. BTW where are you located?

Re: Need a 1980 Z50R rear hub

I'm in Allentown, PA. Thanks for checking on this. If I go this route I would need the hub and the brake hub cover since they are different sizes from what I have now. Most of the stuff in the lower part of the picture below. I think my axel, spoket, etc would all still work. Sorry, but I'm just figuring this out!

Let me look on Tuesday night. I should have as much stuff for the '78 as you would need(except for the wheel). I give you a shout back then. Take care.
