| Re: 04 nsr50r cdi unit Honda NSR-50 Performance parts page featuring Kitaco, Takegawa and G-Craft billet aluminium parts. Try this one. Be careful of the ebay ones as they are for earlier years and will not always work on our bikes. |

I have an 2004 NSR50R with a CF Posh Racing Super Battle (Gold Box) CDI,I got mine from dan@honda50.com............www.honda50.com The correct CF Posh Part# for a 2004 NSR50R are #230060 for the Super Battle (Silver Box) and #230061 for the Racing Super Battle (Gold Box) I opted for #230061 the Racing Super Battle (Gold Box) They are listed as for a NS-1 -94 Application.............These are the CDI's reccomended for a 2004 NSR50R by CF Posh themselves.................................The following is from Dan (Z) at Honda50.com For anyone wanting to purchase a CF Posh CDI for their 2004 NSR50, do not purchase the 1995-1999 NSR50 CDI as it's incorrect for your application and also more expensive then it need be. If any of you purchased the incorrect unit, I would recommend exchanging it for CF Posh PN 230060 as recommended by Imaoka San at CF Posh. It's cheaper to boot. Thanks for the info. I will check it out. FYI, after I got the call from the dealer that this part was discontinued, I called Honda motorsports corprate office to ask about why this part is so hard to find. I was told that this part is NOT DISCONTINUED but on back order for a long time. They also said that this part was received from the back order two days ago and would ship to dealers immediatly. Is the posh CDI unit any better than the OEM part?

FYI! After contacting Honda Motorsport corporate I found out the CDI unit for this bike is NOT discontinued but was on back order for a long time and therefore unavailable. They told me that the back order was filled 2 days ago and is now available through a dealership. |

So far I haven't done any mod to the bike. Is the Posh CDI workable with a stock motor? What mod have you done on your and what do you think was the best performance improvement part? Thanks for the help, this is my first NSR.

| Re: 04 nsr50r cdi unit You should start a new post to see what everybody has done and likes. As far as an aftermarket CDI it is probably one of the last performance mods I would do.

My Mood: | Re: 04 nsr50r cdi unit Not many people have aftermarket CDI's they race these bikes because there inexspensive to do so. I would start one but for something like that the response would be virtually nil, For $80.00 bucks or so i would get the Aftermarket CDI especially if i had a pipe and carb.............and certainly if my OEM CDI went south

I finally got my bike fixed and it turned out NOT to be the CDI as I originally thought. Now I have a NEW CDI unit that I don't need. If any one else needs one let me know.

Okay then, make me ask you. What was wrong with the bike? Air leak? Spit it out mister.

I'm not completely sure, After playing with it for a week while waiting for the CDI it was still doing the same thing. I put a new plug in it and it started running good again. I can't beleive that a plug would go bad so quickly. I don't know if I did something while I was playing with it or not. NOW THE BAD NEWS!!! So after it started running good I decided to redo the forks with some 10W oil. I got that done and took it out for a test drive. About 5 minuets in to the test I heard "CLINK" from the engin and it went dead. I got it to the garage and check it out and had no compresion. I pulled the cylinder and found one of the piston C-clips had come free and gashed the piston and the cylinder. Now I'm rushing to get parts in time to get it put back together, brock in and ready to race by the 19th. Do you have and suggestions on how to get this done fast? THIS REALLY SUCKS!!!! |

How many hours are on your bike now? One of your problems may be that you were due for a rebuild. Have you checked the piston to cylinder clearance. I don't know how big your club is. Ask around and you will probably find a new condition cylinder and piston just sitting around in someones garage. Are you absolutely sure that no debris make it into the crankcase. Even a small chunk of a circlip, piston or cylinder chunk can reak havoc down the road.

I bike is pretty new and only raced a few times. I got the parts on order and I have looked very closely at the crank area. I don't see any debris in there and for good measure blow it out for a few minuets while moving the crank around.

What is the ETA on a new topend? Who did you order it from? I can help you with a used piston and rings in a pinch. The most likely suspect for unused spares would probably be the "The Schramster". You might want to get in touch with him.

I ordered them from Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza. I paid $40 extra for overnight delivery. they should be here on Friday. I'll be out boating this weekend so the rebuild won't happen until Monday. I plan on doing alot of riding up and down the street next week to get it broke in be fore the race.
