Re: Malossi/Autoboy BBK Comparison

The Autoboy is 47mm/71.8cc the Malossi is 46.3mm/69.7cc http://translate.googleusercontent.c..._JcXTJVmPFAJFA both have been worked on(Ported etc etc),The Autoboy has been ported more aggressively than the Malossi but the finish work on the Malossi is better (It was worked on by a noted engine builder)........The differences between the two are obvious in this shot.................The Malossi currently sells for $223.00+Shipping(Which is a steal in my opinion) but will be going up in price soon so if you are thinking about getting one do so soon.http://www.malossiusaonline.com/Sear...ts.asp?Cat=125 The Malossi is a brand new casting the Autoboy is based on a recycled Honda casting. As it comes the Malossi is 45.5mm/67.3cc's or you can opt as i did and have the cylinder bored out for the 46.3/69.7cc's piston which sells for $89.00.I am sure you can sell the 45.5/67.3cc piston that comes with the kit and recoup some of your dough.

The Autoboy head is on the left..

The Autoboy piston is also on the left

Anybody know what the holes are for? Only the Autoboy has them.........

The transfer ports are also noticeably larger on the Malossi most likely because unlike the Autoboy/Honda cylinder the Malossi was designed with 65+cc's in mind........

Another area where there is a considerable difference

Its gonna take a lot more than a rotary valve to wake these engines up. I dropped a cylinder off with my engine builder today and we were getting a chuckle out of it. My guy said "hey it reminds me of the good old days of building up ysr's". This is a comparision of nsr cylinders. If you really want to see how old school this stuff is take a head, piston, and cylinder off any two stroke that has come out in the last ten years and compare it to its nsr counterpart.

Re: Malossi/Autoboy BBK Comparison

Looks a little like my old Athena 70cc cylinder I had... (the black one is the Athena cylinder, the silver is a Kitaco 65cc cylinder).
Both of yours look very nice... not sure if my old cylinder had them holes up front or not??

Actually I've seen one a guy made a project of! He used a different cylinder which would normally fit a case inducted engine. Will try and see if I have pictures save somewhere.

Re: Malossi/Autoboy BBK Comparison

Hey those are some nice pictures there, need to have an Athena/Eurocilindro type up for comparison as well. I know my mates Eurocilindro was aluminium, but normally they aren't ported as well as the Malossi kits.

Malossi kits are usually ported very nicely with transfers which curve out and then across the piston. On the 93cc version for the bigger engine I reangled the main transfers more to the centre of the piston for better top end and added portwork which joins the intake to the main transfers. The overall effect was very good over the already good standard porting!

Those holes on either side of the exhaust port are probably to ensure no air remains trapped and avoiding stagnent water flow which would cause an increase in localised temperature which could affect bore concentrity possibly. My Malossi was a Monday or Friday block cause they drilled into the exhaust port so it's had to be welded up!

I would be more apt to get the alloy Parmakit cylinder http://www.parmakit.com/cpz22/jsp/co...TID=0000000226 as the reviews in europe on the Athena/Eurocilindro are less than enthusiastic...It seems in europe its 1-Malossi 2-Parmakit 3-Athena/Eurocilindro,And what do you think of the job on the Malossi?

Re: Malossi/Autoboy BBK Comparison

I should see horsepower in the teens from the 70cc Malossi(But am keeping my fingers crossed)And am hoping for considerably more from the 72cc Autoboy. The Malossi is going on first sometime this week.

Technically the 4 stoke engine is older then the 2 stroke.

Yes that is correct. The Kitaco is the one in the middle.
