Doable, but tough. The reason is that an NSR50 comes with an "off road" title. It's way easier to get an off road title changed over to a road title, than to try and get the Metrakit road legal via the State Highway Patrol route. --L*64

When something has an off road title, there is an affadavit that the BMV provides that you fill out, stating that the off road machine is in compliance with road going equipment. Things like a horn, lights, turn signals, etc...

When a vehicle does not have an off road title-- it would need to go to the Highway Patrol for an inspection as a "home made" vehicle. They can then assign it a VIN #, and rivet a plate to the frame. This is the more difficult way to go. --L*64

It is different in every state though... I know Fl has a list of what VIN's are street legal, instead of the old law of what wasn't legal.
It's next to impossible to get "off road use only" street legal here.

Yeah-- It's not too bad here in Ohio unless it has to go to the Highway Patrol.... --L*64

Re: metrakit mini gp bike street legal???

My question is why would you want to? This is a full on race bike. Its not like the Nsr or ysr with street like gear ratios and power delivery. Its would be just too peaking and difficult to ride on the street. On top of that everything would have to be fabbed up from scratch unlike the Nsr's where you can just get the street parts from Japan or hook something up to the existing frame that has allowances for lighting.

Cause it's awesome fun!!

Why make a road bike into a race bike, when you can make a race bike into a road bike!!

I can sum this up for you in one word.... No

You need some sort of paper work and a frame with a vin number of some sort on it to register anything in this country, doesn't matter what state you live in. Take it from a guy who spent two years getting a grey market bike titled.
