The NSF is definitely a cooler looking and possibly more aerodynamic bike. The NSR has a roomier ride for a person of average stature. The seating position on the NSF is a "nut crusher" in stock configuration, but can be fixed by moving the seat mounting tabs back an inch or so. The NSF weighs, if I remember correctly, 20lbs. more. With that being stated, I would choose the NSF100 over the NSR50 for F1 racing. It is an upgrade and as apackage is very hard to beat, if the rider does his part.

I also weigh 200lbs without my leathers ect... I wouldn't say either is too small, but you have to get the seat tabs moved to the rear on the NSF. At your weight, the torque from the 4 stroke will probably be more fun for playing on the track. The other option is getting a NSR50 and converting it to a 4 stroke with one of Brian Conrad's bolt on kits, if you can find an XR100 engine and NSR chassis for a decent price.

My NSR50 frame with XR100 motor mounted in it weighs in at 167lbs... Weighed it last year at the end of the season. And as far as the what bike is faster debate... it depends on a lot of things.. Both bikes have their pros and cons, but with equal riders on each bike, it will be a hard fought battle for 1st. Believe me, I've been there done that with my teammate... Only thing is, he is just a bit faster than me and I have to do everything I can to try and stay in front of him! One thing the XR100 motor lacks is top end, if you can find the correct gearing for your track, then you'll be good. There is a lot more messing with gearing with a 4 stroke then a 2 stroke... just going off what I've been doing the last 2 seasons racing. Another thing, the power will start to fade on the air cooled 4 stroke when too hot.. an oil cooler will take care of that problem. I love 2 strokes, but after having one spit me off a few times when it seized, I made the switch. 4 strokes are easy to ride, but will make ya lazy at times. I'd say start off racing a 2 stroke, it will teach you more about corner speed, throttle control, etc... then when you jump to a 4 stroke, all that will transfer over and make you an even better rider! Good luck! - TEAM QUAZZYMOTO RACING # 4 |

nsf engine has alot more potential with bore kits and stroker cranks and 4valve heads to be faster than the nsr.

You will start to see a difference in speed when you install big bore kits on the NSR's, like my teammates Kitaco 63cc kit -vs- my NSR with BBR's 120cc kit. The 63cc kit will slightly pull away from me on the straights, but I make it up in a few corners with the torque of the 4 stroke... Just watch this video of the two of us battling it out for 1st. Jordan Reid (Jeff Lebowski on here) is behind me for a few laps... he eventually gets around me and wins the race after I make a few mistakes, the secound video you can see when he gets around me, but I use the 4 stroke torque to get right back by him. The 2s -vs- 4s battle will never be won... Ray Perez is right... the 4s have more options to get more power out of them and I plan on doing that with a stroker kit over the off season. Watch these two videos and you can see how close the two are in power...for now! HAHA YouTube - Start of Forumla2 race June 28 2009 YouTube - passingaction11 | |

I've got first hand experience racing a stock NSR50 for an entire season, then jumping to a modified 63cc NSR, then 65cc's, then to my current 4 stroke motor. Out of all of them, I like the 4 stroke motor best, but the 2 stroke had its pros! I think once I do the stroker kit, I won't ever look back again! |

| Re: nsf100 vs.nsr50 I race with a guy who has an NSR and two NSFs, multiple time big bike champion in the region, held most of the track records on only a RS125, was recruited from the US to test GP bikes and race the Japanese GP circuit...this guy is good. He originally didn't like the NSF, but after getting used to it states there is not much of a comparison. Some things may depend on riding style and the ability to tune, but I stick by what a guy with tons of demonstrated talent, raced the mini circuit in Japan, and knows big bikes and minis says.

If a guy is fast he will be fast on any bike, like coax said you need to know how to set up the bike, I think is all about corner speed and late braking and most of the FAST GUYS have both....
