NSR50R Parts

Just picked up an 04 NSR50R and I am looking for a site or shop that has/stocks nsr parts like sprockets, pads ect. And does anyone know where I can get a set of bodywork from? Preferably fiberglass.

Sweet little machine, I used to race big bikes and ysr's and the nsr seems much more of a capable platform than the ysr..
I am running it this weekend and I am sure I will start looking into power mods first thing Monday morning. Where should I start? Carb and or big bore kit?
Oh, I just found a Computrack sticker by the remote reservoir. So I guess there was some work done. I will contact them and see if they can tell me what they did. Is the stock rear a showa?

Thanks for any input.

Re: NSR50R Parts

Front sprockets can be had at any parts shop for these bikes... rear sprockets are expensive if you go thru SS or Vortex.. Call Billy Wiese of WRW Racing, he makes custom sprockets and I can vouch for his quality.. they are SWEET and cheaper then anyone else. 512-470-0442

Fiberglass bodywork can be found at air-tech.. they have some nice stuff for both the NSR and NSF.

Sometimes you can find a set on ebay, so you can watch that. If you want something different, then Japan has all the cool bodywork for the NSRs!

Congrats on getting it.. they are a ton of fun! Let me know if you need anything

Re: NSR50R Parts

Thanks for the info Fireman!!

One more Q. What is everybody running for air filters? if any.

Excuse my newbie-ness but what vendor is SS? And does anyone have any links or a way to search for the Japan goodies?

Re: NSR50R Parts

SS in the context of sprockets = Sprocket Specialists.

In stock form the bike ships without an air filter. I installed a cheap Emgo piece like this:

Once I installed a PE24 I went with a K&N filter.

For hop up parts in The States you can also use Billy, Team Calamari Racing, and Classic Honda Performance, just to name a few. One of the guys on this forum, NCNSR I think, seems to get parts from all over the globe. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

I take it you are talking about the intake that mates a VM series carb with the NSR? If so, I bought one from them as well. But they told me up front I would have to modify it to make it work on my bike so I knew what I was getting into. As you know, it's meant for the YSR so making it work on the NSR was always going to be a compromise.

We'll have to agree to disagree about The Squids, I have nothing but love for those ladies. We've been doing business together off and on for 10 years now and they've always treated me great.

The thing with Calamari is that they are from back in the day when mini racing was a bunch of people meeting up in a parking lot with a bunch of YSR's. Back them hopping up the Yammy's meant finding parts from other bikes and lightly modifying them to work. It wasn't pretty but it worked. If you want very good bang for the buck stuff give them a call but they are not into the real expensive pretty parts.
