Picked up my sons NSR

Finally got it. Brand new, sitting on the showroom floor until last year a buddy of mine got it but never started it. A little clean up on the carb, fresh gas and it fired right up. The kid had it figured out in about 5 minutes and ran the piss out of it. It's a little different than his SuperMoto bike but he got the idea pretty fast.

Other than race glass and paint... nothing until he needs more than what it has. I do want to put a different throttle on it. The stock one you have to turn a mile to go WFO.

Any ideas on throttle mods?

Team Calamari 1/4 turn throttle and cable. Best $37 bucks I ever spent. I have them on both our bikes and what a difference. A little tougher to turn though, but with so little power you want it all on ASAP!
Make sure you have some Teflon cable lube and you'll be OK.

Nice bike, where do you race and with what club? Check out our club if your in the area. NJ MiniGP • Racing has never been so much fun!

If you find the throttle tough to turn after you install a 1/4 turn you can shorten the spring on the carb slide.
Nice looking bike. They sure look nice before all the crash damage sets in.

Re: Picked up my sons NSR

It looks like he is a little bit small for it, but I'm sure he fits it better when he is riding it. Lets see some videos of him parking lot practicing on it.

I run the BBR throttle & cable for a 24-26mm carb on my 22mm mikuni carb and it runs awesome. A little over 1/8 turn, which is just awesome all over. I had the BBR throttle for an 18-22mm carb on the same carb and it was more like 1/4 turn so Brent at BBR hooked me up with the larger throttle.

Re: Picked up my sons NSR

Ya when he's riding it he looks about like Pedrosa on the RC212V. Nice and stretched out, unlike me on my GSXR600 hangin off like a monkey.

Paint got done today. Building the decal set in Photoshop so that should be ready come next week. I'll post up pics.

I've got throttles off my Pitsters that I might try on the bike to see if it's better just to get an idea.

Hopefully we'll get to run Miller Motorsports Park on Friday with it and we'll shoot some video.

He's pumped, cant wait to run the track with it. He's got 3 years of Supermoto under his belt with 3 Championships. Other than the riding style change he has the rest of the tools already.

What a lucky kid!The chances of my old man buying me a motorcycle at that age would have been to small to measure,Good luck! I might as well have asked him to buy me a loaded .45

I work in the Public School system and see way too many kids in trouble. I look at all the money I spend on his bikes and racing as an investment in his well being as he gets older. Too many parents spending 10's of thousands of dollars to bail their kids out of trouble, rehab and other stuff. 10 thousand spent when he's younger to keep him on a good path is cheap and money well spent in my eyes. If he makes it big then great, if not and it keeps him centered as he grows up then we won either way.

Heres a SM shot.
