RS125 Tail

I'm looking at all my cracked and busted bodywork and I see one of my tails has a pretty good crack in it so I'm thinking of ordering up something new. I know a lot of you guys out there have grafted the new style RS125 tails on to your NSR50's. All I can seem to find for info is that it requires some slight modification. What exactly does this mean? Is the subframe rewelded? Is it just a case of drilling four holes though the subframe for the new mounting holes? Does the tail itself need to be cut and modded? Most important though is how well does it hold up in crashes?

This is what I mean...

Re: RS125 Tail

I've got a RS125 tail that I have not mounted up yet (might not now that I just got a new NSF tail from Air Tech), but a few in our club have mounted up RS125 tails. Kyle (he is on here) has mounted up one on his NSR. I believe you have to cut off the "grab handles" on the sub-frame, and it will fit right on with no problems. I think Kyle built some holder on the rear part to keep it held down more... check out the pic..

Re: RS125 Tail

Yep, works well. Not much needed to do.

I set mine back about half inch, to give me some more room. Brian is right, I have all my grab handles cut off, then, I quickly fabbed up a support for the rear, and just bolted it to the rear subframe cross member. Took all of 15 minutes.

Sorry for the bad photo, but the bike is in the side of my garage now for the winter.

As far as crashing...they do that very well too video from Sean's on board behind me and from Ben's spectator shots too...

Re: RS125 Tail

Looks good. I ordered up some fairings from Airtech but I'm too much of a cheap ass to order up the seat. I'm thinking that I can just order up a cheap RS125 tail (or maybe even a TZ125) from somebody like Beasley and save myself 100 plus bucks in the process. Hey Fireman. Are you thinking of maybe selling your RS125 tail?

Re: RS125 Tail

I would but I'm sure I'll use it sometime, or as a spare tail. It is a little busted up and I need to do my fiberglass magic to it to make it look like new.. the problem is.. trying to get the time to fiberglass right now since it is too cold in the garage for the fiberglass to set and my fire chief already busted me fiber glassing at work too many times in the heated garages! HAHA

Post on WERA, or USGPRU that you are looking for tail sections! People will post what they have~!
Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Man if I couldn't work on my bikes on night shifts at work I'd never get anything done.

Re: RS125 Tail

I work 24hr shifts and everyone is cool with me working on my stuff there, but don't like the fiberglass because of how bad it is and it smells up the entire engine bays at the FD! HAHAHA.

I lifted my Jeep at work last spring, so I know what you mean!
