| So we fried a piston ...
So we're running our YSR50 at Oak Hill Texas this weekend when, about an hour or two into it, it quits running just all of a sudden. We had done our best to run it rich, but apparently to no avail. The plug electrodes were light grey, melted, and mostly worn away. When we got the bike home we found this ... chicken fried piston pictures by fishchoke - Photobucket I'm reading causes can include lean condition, detonation/timing, spark plug temp rating, etc. We set it rich, didn't mess with timing, and had a BR8HS in it. I'm wondering if we had an air leak in the carb or something like that. How do we repair the damage? It looks to me like maybe we can get the cylinder re-honed, new piston and rings, and reassemble? After that I still have to address what caused the damage. Anyone who has seen this before, what advice can you give? Thanks, Nate Team 'ynot' Dallas TX USA |
