ysr50 clutch play

Ok... just started tearing into a 50 I just picked up.

It seems like the clutch just isn't working. Pulled the right side (right leg side) cover and the basket moves out on the springs about a quarter of an inch.
So.. It seems like it's not moving that far but also it's REALLY hard to pull the lever in.

I am thinking that something is up with the push rod or push rod bearing but not having had one of these in the past have nothing to compare it to.

Any input would be appreciated.

Will get pics up tomorrow.

Re: ysr50 clutch play

the push rod is checked by removing the left eng cover and it will slide right out.
you also have 2 clutch adjusters one where the cable go's in and one behind the stator cover
if the bike sat for a while you may want to try a new clutch, I've seen the clutches seize up and stick when they have sat for a long time.

See, I wondered/was worried that when I pulled the rod the bearing would drop out. Apparently not, which is rad.

Have not lubed the cable which is stupid of me, will try it next.

Re: ysr50 clutch play

Got it running just a sec ago. Just seems to be a combo of a knarly cable and bad adjustment. My attention was drawn away from that by the BADLY blown base gasket. Blowing ****e out the side.... gah. Time for a gasket kit!
