best motor

looking at putting a new motor in my mini. it is a honda 50cc laydown style. have around $500 for the motor. so the question is what is the best motor for $500. The mini is really a sach madass. so relibility will be key.

Re: best motor

Better search around cause the motors that have inner rotor kits in them will not run your lights. I have researched it and saw a few motors that will work but you have to mod the wiring harness. I don't own a madass but was thinking of getting one and doing a engine swap as well and found a few writeups. I think though the best thing to do is call these guys to answer a few questions if they will Moto-Scoot - Bikes they have on their website that they do the upgrades there so I bet they at least know the ins and outs. I have not talked to them though, and am not affiliated with them. This post is just from my researching the same thing NOT actually doing it. Good luck and post some darn pics will ya? If you do the swap yourself do a writeup in here.

Re: best motor

Also your Pipe will need to be changed as the YX 150 & YX 160 Motors take KLX style Pipes..

None of the YX Motors (heads) are being produced to except a CRf50 style pipe anymore...

Re: best motor

i would have to agree that lifan 150 would be a good choice ,but run your existing ignition system directly on the new motor, do this to avoid hassel
