Question Yamaha R1&R6 rear shock on pitbike, your experiences?

Hello all,

I didnt found any informations(some about R6 shock but nothing special) about these shocks, so I made a new thread. I would like to buy one of the Yamaha R1 or R6 shocks(I can have them for very very good price), I can choose from the 2 models attached(R6 shock is from bike that had about 300miles). Are you able to tell me, how good these shocks perform, are they stiff or hard, and which from these 2 you will choose? How they perform compared to the DNM and Fastace shocks? I think that the R1 will fit better into my frame(see picture of it i think there is no place for the R6 reservoir), because its reservoir is fitted as on classic pitbike shocks.

Thank you for all your info!

find out what weight those springs are otherwise theres no point in even thinking about fitment. Ya the R's are alot heavier bikes but they incoprorate linkage so you might just get lucky

I saw some pictures of pitbikes using these shocks, I only wanted to know, what experience people have with it. I heard some very good things about it. And as i wrote, its not my experiment, i know that these shocks are working, only wanted to know compared to the other...

From my experience with streetbikes, I would venture to say that the spring rate and valving is way too stiff as well as the stroke being too short. Mounting wise it may work but by the time you spend the money to valve it, and respring it you could pick something up off of ebay for the same price.

You figure 100lb pit bike + 150lb rider= 250lbs

Figure R1 385lbs + rider 150lbs= 535lbs

BIG difference in weight.
