| Re: MMSX photos I am using a 40D and a 70-200 2.8 and a 580EX flash. I thought my pics looked pretty good ... til I saw Will Topetes... Then I wanted to go home and light my camera gear on fire. He shot the exact same gear as me, well his camera isn't quite as nice, his is 'only' a 30D, -Todd- |

No, I was getting 'THE' shot. The exact same shot that he made. The difference was the LOOK of the shot. I was balancing ambient light and flash, resluting in very flat, boring, lighting. The resulting pics have a very cluttered feeling to them. Will stops down the back ground, and then also uses off camera flash, making the background darker and the rider MUCH brighter and colorful, providing awesome separation of the subject from the cluttered background. His tight crops and interesting angles also add to the effect. He has really mastered this 'look'. | |
