119 DOHC reliability?

Does anyone have experience with the Daytona 119 DOHC kit? I'm going to build a "stocker" to full around on the street with and I want to drop a DOHC with Takegawa 5 speed in the stock chassis. I don't know why, something might be wrong with me, but I think that would be so awesome/badass. Here's my question...how reliable are these motors? I understand it's big displacement and HP and that hurts reliability some so I know it's not gonna be as reliable as the bulletproof stock engine. Also, do I need a special exhaust for this head? I think that Tak DOHC called for a special exhaust if I'm not mistaken. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: 119 DOHC reliability?

I built a Kitaco 124SE with a 4 speed and manual clutch kit for a Stock chassis bike.
Wow what a ride.

The Daytona 119 engines are a very reliable engine.
Go for it.

Please.

lol just what I wanted to hear! I just want a slow looking small little stocker with a big motor to terrorize the streets with. Do you know anything about the Takegawa 124 DOHC? How does it compare to the Daytona? Which one would you prefer?

Anyone else got experience with the DOHC engines?

Re: 119 DOHC reliability?

If you are going to buy a Daytona "kit" that is the head and some other parts , i read a thread somewhere here at PM that it is half chinese parts . One of the vendors was offering the Daytona "kit" . In that thread it ended up being called a Chi-tona

Takegawa is all japanese and i believe very expensive , it's for serious mini moto racing .

BTW there is a guy selling a 12 Bar in the classified section .

Takegawa engine is a also a great engine kit but the fall back is that you will have to fabricate an exhaust system for it because the exhaust port is center of the port instead of canted to the side like the OEM head is.

Both engines will make more than enough power for a stock chassis.
The thing that I do like about the Takegawa engine is adjustable cam timing sprockets that come with it.
You can mod the sprockets to adjust the cam timing on a Daytona engine but unless you have machinery to do it, not really cost effictive. Especially if you don't know what you are doing.
