My 6 yr old cant get his boot under the shifter. Any recommendations on a shifter before I just cut his up and make my own?

Take the shifter out and move it upwards on the teeth. That should give him more space to fit the boot in

alot of companies make longer shifters. Use them along with going up a spline.

I rode with regular shoes when I just rode with friends. When I started actually going to tracks to ride and wearing boots, I found that moving the shifter up one on the splines helped a lot with the thicker toe of the boot.
