My friend was thinking about picking up a bike that has a perimeter frame but I'm pretty sure that it's not a BBR perimeter frame. Does anyone know anything about these knock off perimeter frames the bike is selling for pretty cheap so I still feel it's a good deal.

If it's not bbr don't buy it. My buddy that had one of those nock off bbr framed bikes and it was juuuuunck. Save the money and buy something good.

ok but heres the deal the bike comes is an 07 crf 70 that has a stroked out 108 tb kit on it, takegawa manual clutch, fast ace forks, aftermarket rims front and rear disk brakes on it and he's asking only $1500 so I think even with the generic frame thats a pretty good deal. What do you think

well if its not BBR. its most likely too heavy. thats what ive seen from these nok off primmys

i would get it! good deal! if it is really heavy you can find a stock frame and brace that! and then sell the nock off. the stroked out motor and the takegawa parts make it worth it i think, post a pic tho!

If it is not a BBR it is one of two China frames. One is an SPV which is actually a pretty decent frame. The frame head is one piece instead of being all welded. The other China frame has a welded head piece which is prone to cracking. Both frames are heavier than a BBR. If it is an SPV, the head has "SPV" machined in it. Either way 1500 is pretty high considering FastAce AS-02 forks are only around 350 for "genuine" FastAce. You need to beware of the knock-off FastAce forks and shocks. The real ones are made in Taiwan and the knock-offs are made in mainland China, (yeah, I know... Taiwan is part of China but the quality of materials and the manufacturing process is far superior to most mainland companies). I have been there and have seen the difference first hand.

thats what I thought I told my friend that for that price thats like buying the motor and transmission and getting everything else for free. It also has decent suspension.

I should tell my friend to ask him is he has the stock frame still yet. will that motor fit into a stock crf 50 frame?

i had one and it was alright, it is pretty heavy but not bad for the money

but if you buy one of the ones on ebay they dont come with any bolts so plan on spending hella time at the hardware store buying all the bolts. then you have to buy a gas tank and a pipe and if you get good parts that gets expensive.

and then when you go to sell it you make nothing back. i had the ebay perimeter with a BBR exhaust and BBR tank and china disk brakes and i think i paid around $800 for everything. $500 for the frame, $50 for the bolts, $175 for the pipe and $100 for the tanks and like $20 for the brakes. i think i was able to sell it for $400 maybe. i didnt care at the time tho cause i got a great deal on better parts to replace all that

yea that motor will be fine in a stock frame, and motor with honda based cases will fit into a stock frame for future reference

have you ever ridden a BBR perimeter or one of these knocker perimeters?

if you havent ridden both then you have nothing to contribute except throw out another one of these ignorant statements thats pms been flooded with the last few months

I have one on my 50 and it is pretty nice. be careful what one you get though my buddy ordered one and it turned out to be made of steel

I just mean its decent compared to stock. He doesn't want to spend a lot of money but wants something with decent power and a suspension that can handle his weight

anything is better than stock, he could always buy the bike, sell the perimeter setup and get some sort of good atermarket frame and swingarm and shock and exhaust

Are you talking about the frame that looks like a perimiter on ebay going for 300-400 bucks? I emailed a guy that bought one and he said it actually works great, hasnt broke/bent nothing yet, said the only ****ty part was like someone said it didnt come with all the bolts/hardware and there was a little bit of drilling some bolt holes out since they werent the proper size or something...but he actually said it was a decent frame for 300-400 bucks you cant go wrong

those frames are the ones that Workz bikes uses for their bikes, i dont know about the crf size model but the midsize is quit good and well manufactured (welding), of course is nothing compared to a BBR.
