Got an issue

Motor was running great. Started it last night for the ride this morning to make sure everything was OK.

At just before half throttle it seems likes it starves for fuel. It just starts

Bapp,Bapp,Bapp and will not even out at all. Or take anymore throttle.

I have seen people mention raising and lowering the needle. But it ran fine before.

Its got a Two Brothers 88 kit, Kehin Pc 18 carb kit,Takegawa manual clutch,Stock CDI

Any suggestions. Also how do you go about raising or lowering the needle? Is this the issue??

Just about run out of steam on this issue and ready to take it to a shop in the morning.

All help will be appreciated.

X2, sounds like you sucked something into the main. popped the bowl off and take the jet out and blow everything out good.

I tried adjusting both screws when at half throttle and it did not make any difference.

Will the carb need to come off the intake? I am new to these little bikes. Rode big bikes all my life and they were 2 strokes and I never had any issues with them.

I have been an auto mechanic all these years so these little bikes seem to frustrate the hell out of me.

I will have lots of questions when I have these little issues so bear with me please.

Thanks for the advice so far. I will either drop the bowl or remove the carb in the morning.

because those screws dont affect anything at half throttle. the air fuel screw is for idle to 1/4 or 3/8. the other screw is your idle speed. its in your main circuit...clean it out. also check your electrical connections,,,including the ground wire.

thats the easiest way to do it. just pull the carb and get it on the bench. less chance of loosing parts that way, and you can see whats going on better

Re: Got an issue

Well pulled the carb off. Cleaned it all out. Pulled both jets hosed them down in carb cleaner and blew them all out. Went through the carb with carb cleaner also.

Carb was actually clean inside when I took it apart.

Still the same issue when started. No change at all. Brap,Pa,Pa Brap,Pa,Pa Brap at half throttle.

Could this be the CDI box by any chance? Seems like I am hitting the rev limiter?????

No choke on. Actually never use it. Stays wide open all the time. Bike is a one kicker most of the time.

Re: Got an issue

might try runnin a non-resitor plug, ngk c7hsa and not the cr7hsa. could also be clogged air filter, air leak or faulty cdi or connection.
