Re: half links for 50 timing chains?

well you remember my 146 takey dual over head cam build i did? well it chit the bed and i don't feel like pissing w/ it so i picked up an R head. well the problem i am running into since the cylinder is off bored the intake valve pocket is pretty much right on top of the top ring land and with that 57 mill stroker that ol piston is coming up out the hole so i spacered it and lathed some of the comp height down and now i'm sitting about 1/2 a mill in the hole can't go any more cause then i run out of timing chain. and with that nasty s 35 cam i can't get enough clearance between valves. i have a couple pistons and all of them at about .5 mill from the top ring i only have maybe 10 thousands if i'm lucky. so i either need to find a piston with a comp heigh of about 10.5mm or get a half link and lengthened my timing chain. so if you have any ideas on pistons please do tell cause i have been searching all over. the only piston i know of that would prolly work is the take scut piston. and i went that route w/ my dohc and i hated it piston life sucks a$$, piston will set you back about 188 dollars then you still gotta wack on it, its pi$s poorly build and the biggest reason its takegawa! i have absolutly no luck w/ getting replacement parts from takey. called chp today lyle says he don't have any in stock and they don't do alot of 50 chit any more so he don't keep it on hand. sure he can order it 6-8 weeks later it will arrive in cali then for me they tell me it takes a week or 2 to clear customs then shipped to chp then shipped to me on the east coast so usually almost 3 months i'll get the damn part. and when i go to order a part i usually needed it like yesterday so i don't want to wait. then there is two jacka$$ that has to be the worst damn company on the planet i like to run in that store strapped with tnt find dave culligan kick him in the nuts and blow that fu-cker up so no one else will have to deal with there stupidity.

oh by the way i picked up that piston you sent me a link to bored that old school xr cylinder bored in 50mills with good thickness left on the sleeve. you wouldn't happen to know where i could find a timing chain and gaskets would you? i really don't wanna go to my local honda shop that old ba$tard that owns it gives me a rough time everytime i go in there.

Why don't you just have pistons made?

Re: half links for 50 timing chains?

Swapping to 14/28 cam sprockets and using a 2 link shorter chain should let you space it up. 15/30 XR100 is even closer to your needs, but the top has to be redrilled, a bitch.

XR75 or 80 camchain? eBay, DrATV, etc. 75 should use 86L, like an ATC90. 80 uses 88L, ATC110.

Seem angry. Meds have helped me

Space that bitch up to use an off the rackunar, and the cam chain will work. I have a Twinspark 57x68 going together. I'll get the piston and compression right, then worry about hooking the cam to the crank.

Re: half links for 50 timing chains?

mike- cause last time i talked about getting a custom wiseco and je told me the lowest bore size they would do was 57.5 had to do 4 pistons and thye would need my cylinder and head for about a month or so.

fire- lol yeah i'm a lil bent around the axles gotta get hooked up w/ some of those meds... isn't that what comes on the honda's a 14/28 set up? if is whats lower than that cause this is a honda bottom end not that china bottom. and the twin spark 57x68 i take your doing on that china bottom what is it the cr3 or something to that nature?

and i am not 100% sure if its an 80 or 75 cylinder its the short cylinder i'm putting it on a 05 crf 80 bottom i wanna say that chain that is in it is a 88 don't i need a 86? and that gasket kit isn't it a stock bore head gasket?

Re: half links for 50 timing chains?

I forgot you were swingin it in Honda cases. Jumping to 14/28 and going +4 on the chain gives you some slack, but it's tight in the head, needs grinding.

XR100 gasket set, then. Yeah, 86 if you drop to the short jug.

173 is an old 146GPX getting upgraded. I had a 6mm spacer plate waterjet cut at Cometic, so I should be able to run a +2 over China length.

Re: half links for 50 timing chains?

Probably be ok, but I'd use the link & a half, for sure, if going that route. Timing might get tricky, but Kitaco sprockets, or home-slotted will get around that. 200HP Suzuki 1425 works OK slotted, so I'd guess the mini will hold up
